May 2011 Moms

Feels like I can't get prepared (vent)

This is a little bit of a vent, but I also wanted to know if anyone else is in my shoes?  We are in the process of moving near the end of April, and can't really get anything done that I would like for the baby, especially the nursery.   I like to get things done and be prepared way ahead of time and this is driving me crazy, Especially since it will seem like crunch time when we do move.  DH even  wants to hold off on buying stuff until we move so there is less to move Sad.  We did get the nursery furniture and it's stored at his mom's house (the house we are buying).  I am just worried that if the baby comes early, we will have nothing ready for him.

I don't want to seem ungreatful, because I am very greatful to be having a baby, and getting a new house, just timing is a little unfavorable but such is life I guess.  Anyone else having one of these days or in the same boat?

  • Wait, if you are buying MIL's house and storing things there anyways, why not set it up and decorate already?  Or am I missing something?  Moving always stinks, but when pregnant it seems so much worse because you can't do what you could have done before getting KU.  Don't worry, you will get everything figured out in time, remember all baby really needs is love, food, warmth and a place to sleep, even if it is a PNP!

  • Absolutely. We are moving March 12. Our baby shower is March 13. I have been panicking because I feel like we have all these things to do and don't have enought time to do them. Not only will we have to move all of our stuff the 12th, but then have to put everything in the house from the shower the next day. That seems like a lot for me to have to put away and do in a short amount of time. I also am probably panicking for no reason. I think I'm nesting, but can't actually nest-if that makes any sense...

This! Yes Try to sell her on the idea that she can be a part of helping you with LO room! I'm sure as grandma she would love it! I'm sure everything will work out but I feel ya! I am in such a hurry to finish everything and DH has put a stop on it until after the showers that I'm having. But April is sooo far away and I just want it all done NOW!

  • My husband and I are moving sometime in April.  Our closing date is on or about April 4. My shower in April 16.  And the due date is May 21.  My husband wanted to move the closing date to May 4, but I told him that would make me crazy.  I'm with you... I want to paint, set up the nursery, wash and put away all the clothes, etc.

Hopefully everything will fall into place.. (with plenty of time to prepare for baby)..

I wish we could do this, they are smokers,  and I worry that everything will smell like smoke. (Because we stink like it after being there for a few hours and they don't smoke inside when were there) Sad.  So we will have to paint everything when we move.

Oh!  Yeah! I see why you don't!  I would have to paint, completely air out the house, lay new carpet and clean or replace the A/C duct work before I could move a child into a house like that. Good luck!

  • I totally sympathize.  I have no nursery to nest in until we finish a major remodel.  DH hasn't worked on it at all in over a week because he got two paying website jobs and that comes first.  It's making me crazy, not having anywhere to put things or being able to prepare.  I have this nightmare of having the baby early and having to sleep on the bed on the floor in the living room with sheet rock dust and paint and carpet fumes everywhere.

I hope that you get moved in very soon and can finally get settled!

This is us exactly. Amazing that one remodel can invade the ENTIRE house. I just want to be able to clean my house and have it remain clean. Thankfully we're not remodeling the kitchen until this summer. Though I'm not sure what will be worse, wanting to nest and not being able to or remodeling with a newborn!
