Trouble TTC

Please help with understanding HSG results

Does anyone know what this means? The way the radiologist and DR were talking I thought my tubes were clear... but this makes it sound like my L one is not.. if there is no spill is it an open tube? I have a call into the DR. HYSTEROSALPINGOGRAM INDICATIONS: Infertility. Fluoro time: 0.3 minutes. COMPARISON: None. FINDINGS: Canalization of the cervix was performed. Digital spot imaging was performed during injection of contrast into the uterine cavity. There is prompt flow of contrast through the right fallopian tube with free intraperitoneal spill. Some flow is seen in the normalsize left fallopian tube with slight delayed arrival. Cannot confirm free intraperitoneal spill on the left side. The uterine cavity is normal in diameter. ***IMPRESSION: Both fallopian tubes are patent and in normal dimension. There is free intraperitoneal spill on the right. Intraperitoneal spill cannot be confirmed on the left.

Re: Please help with understanding HSG results

  • I'm not a doctor but from what I'm understanding it sounds like you might have or might have had a slight blockage in your left tube. Maybe they dye cleared it all up and that's why they told you they were clear b/c maybe they are now but weren't before??

Or maybe on the left the pressure wasn't as high as on the right (fluid didn't push through as quickly) but it's still open.

     I don't know though, I'm no expert!

  • Your right tube is open and normal, and your ute is normal. Your left tube filled, but did not spill-- so it may not be entirely clear as you seem to be worried about. They did say that it is normal size, which is good. That means if it is a little blocked, it is not hydrosalpinx. They do say that they think both tubes are "patent", meaning open-- though without a spill, I am not sure that they can know for sure. It is kind of lame that the Dr. did not tell you what was going on during the test itself.

  • It all looks good but with the lack of spill on the left you may have had a little blockage.  I'd ask for clarification.  GL!

  • The drs. Did explain everything while it was going on, I was just In to much pain to care or really listenLol.... The parts I did catch made it sound like everythingWas ok..... It took a little bit for the left tub to fill but once It did it filled all the way, it just didn't empty....
  • Did the radiologist have you turn from side to side? Sometimes if you don't turn on your side the dye can't spill into the intraperitoneal cavitiy.
