Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Anyone else having trouble practicing sitting?

I have been practicing sitting with DD for the last month or so and she had been doing a pretty good job; I was able to get her to tripod sit for a little bit here and there. But now when we try to practice she tries to push herself up to a standing position. I know that she will do it when she is ready, but it just seems like she is not doing as well as she used to, or has just given up.

Anyone elses LO doing this?

  • I posted about this last week I think.  Same here.  Little stinkers.  My DD seems too busy to sit these days.  She has so much get up and go except she can't "go" anywhere yet...it's kind of frustrating honestly!!

  • I just laught because DS just tips over to the side, or won't support himself with his arms and bend in half at the waist.  He will sit up straight has an arrow if I have my hand on his back helping him balance, but as soon as it moves away he collapses.

  • DH commented yesterday that DS looks like a gorilla when he sits, because he hunches forward supports himself with his fists. lol

My DD is the same way, we call her a spaz all the time. If we are sitting and holding her, that is not acceptable, she wants us to walk her around to see everything. She's just like my DH, so much energy...I'm way too lazy for these two nuts!

Hopefully our LO's will get the hang of it soon because I don't know how much walking and holding I can do, good thing she's a peanut!

  • R was exactly like this. Just keep practicing, they'll get it and always want to be sitting!
  • DS goes through phases of what he wants to practice.  Right now it's getting up on all 4s.  I just let him practice what he's in the mood for.  In a couple days he'll want to practice something else!  He does the same thing with other types of skills.  For example, he practiced "b" sounds and raspberries non stop, day and night for like 3 or 4 days, and now I haven't heard those sounds for a week and he's on a weird kick where he makes throat sounds with quick bursts of air.

EXACTLY!  Drives me nuts because my 20 month old wants me to play with him too (ie: wants to climb on me all the time)  I feel like a jungle gym!
