DS has been 'fighting' sleep for about 2 months now. He only fights when it is time for bed, he ususally goes down good for his naps, but only sleeps for 20 min. At daycare he sleeps in the swing and at home I have him in his bassinet so I am wondering if that is some of what is going on. Also, he is teething and I know that is another part.
Last night he cried for almost 45 min. I would hold him, rock him, and tried walking him. I laid him in his bassinet b/c sometimes he likes to just stretch out, but nothing worked. I finally laid him down and stepped out of the room. I felt like I had reached my breaking point. I know he is too young for sleep training but I am at my wits end. This is an everynight thing now!
So, is anyone else dealing with the fighting sleep or teething issue? If so what are you doing? For teething we are using orajel and tried a cold wash cloth for him to chew on. He is still small and hasn't grasped how to use a teether yet. I read that orajel can be a choking hazzard so now I am really skeptical about using it too often. Sorry this is so long but any ideas would be appreciated!!
Re: Need help with fighting sleep/teething
We are going through the same thing right now. Not sure how old your son is but I thought we were teething also but my pediatrician told me most likely my son is going through separation anxiety a part of stranger danger period. Once he said that it made sense. It has been like this since the beginning of the month and I already see it getting better.
