Days off for school kids...

Unbelievable. Students should not be allowed to be off for a holiday if they don't know what it's for. I asked my 17 year old SIL why she was off tomorrow and she didn't remember. So I told her and she's all like oooh, she's off because George Washington and Abraham Lincoln have the same birthday. I said no, its just celebrated nationally that day, and she's insisting that its a holiday cause everyone can't get over that they have the same birthday. This is the same girl who had no idea why she was off for MLK day either. Ungrateful little rats.

    yea, it seems like it might be better for the kids to go to school on those days, but to have activities teaching them about the holidays and the reasons for them.  Buuuuut then I would have to work them, so yea I'm not going to make that suggestion too loud. =-)

    I find it sad that a junior or senior in high school doesn't know about President's or Martin Luther King Day.  I wouldn't call her ungrateful though...
