Pregnancy Test and Trigger Shot

Hi Ladies,

How soon after the trigger shot can I take a pregnancy test? I heard the drugs in the trigger shot can stay in your system for awhile and create a false positive. FYI, I had my trigger shot on 2/12 and my IUI on 2/14. Thanks!

Theoretically it should be out of your system at the rate if one day per every 1000iu. So if you had a 10000iu trigger it should be out in 10 days. Some people will metabolize it differently though. The only way to know what it is for you is to test every day following your trigger and see when your HPT goes from positive to negative. Then if/when it shows a positive again, you know it's real. I've been reading all about this this past weekend!  I believe it typically depends on what kind of trigger you took~ovidrel or HCG and how much of it.  A prefilled ovidrel syring is 250mcg and would typically take 5-10 days to be out of your system.  I've also read that it can be in your system for 12-14 days.  Good luck!  I'd at least wait until 2/28.  Getting a positive and not knowing if it's real isn't too much fun.

Ive tested mine out - it is always gone by 8dpiui.  I take HCG.

i am in a similar situation as you, OP.  we triggered on 2/14 and did IUI on 2/15.  i just did my first hpt this afternoon and it was negative.  i rcvd 10,000 units of hcg, so not sure if it's because i didn't use FMU or if the trigger is really out.  i bought all 5 hpt's that they had at the dollar store and will continue to test.

I use Ovidrel and tested out the trigger. I was still getting a faint positive until 8dpiui so 10 days after I triggered.
