My cousin has been living with us since November. He has had a rough time (some of you may remember my aunt passed away 2 years ago, this is her son and he is 21 now). He doesn't have a car and he has been driving ours to work and occasionally after work to do something with friends. He has been honest, no problems, and works 6 days a week as a cook at a local restaurant. DH gets a phone call this morning sometime around 5:30-6am and shortly after we hear the front door open and he is home panicking and hyperventilating. The entire passenger side of my car is crushed in, the panel to the front door is gone and the window is broken, both bumpers are cracked and partially popped off, windshield cracked, who knows about the alignment. He is physically totally fine. He tells us that someone hit him and ran right around the corner from our house while he was at a stop waiting to turn left into our neighborhood, but doesn't remember anything about the car that hit him. First question I ask is if he was drinking or on anything and he denies. We call 911, police officer comes right away, checks the scene with no sign of the car door panel or any broken glass. My cousin sticks to his story and denies drinking to the officer as well. He gets questioned as his story isn't adding up and the officer thinks he had been drinking, does some physical tests which indicate he had, and he gets taken to the station for a breathalizer, and blew 0.5 over the limit. I am LIVID at him. He flat lied to my face, and decided to drink and drive after I have told him over and over again not to, and to call us if he is drinking and needs a ride home. I am glad that he is safe. But the fact that he lied to me and we cannot even get the truth about what happened out of him pisses me off and the cops can't do a report because they don't know what jurisdiction the accident happened in. The car is a crazy mess. We just paid it off in December so I am hoping it is not totalled. Sorry for venting. I am so frustrated and don't know what to do with him.
The passenger door won't even close now so we need to get it towed to an auto shop. Any recommendations for a good place in the West Chester area? Thanks ladies.
Re: Horrible start to our day
Holy he!! I'd be livid too. I'm glad he's ok, but sorry that your car is destroyed. I hope it can be fixed, and you don't have to total it out.
Oh my goodness Miranda! I cannot even imagine! We just had Chris' car worked on at a car mechanic place off of Liberty Fairfield Rd (by the Kroger on rt 4). They were beyond fantastic! Liberty Collision
