One More Stroller Post-BIG STROLLER

Ladies-
I have the BJ city mini single, and I love it, but I hate the little basket.  Now with the new baby coming, and my summer coming, too...I am wondering if any of you have different suggestions for doubles.

I see a lot of recommendations for the city select, but I cannot convince my husband to spend that kind of cash on a stroller.  I am looking at the Graco Quattro Tour Duo, and I know it is big and bulky, but we are buying a Honda Odyssey in the next few weeks, so I should have plenty of room.Does anyone have this stroller?  What do you think of it?

My other thought is that I could get the combi double side by side or a sit and stand, but DS will only be 20 months when the baby arrives so I fear that that is too much to ask of him.   I've seen some that do both double stroller and then sit n stand, but I am not sure if the quality is there.

Please help a mom out!  Not ready for this baby to get here yet!

Re: One More Stroller Post-BIG STROLLER

  • My sister has the sit and stand that has a second and removable seat.  She LOVES it.  If it would have fit in my car, I would have been there in a heartbeat!

We are going with the City Select.  We sold our jogging stroller to help cushion the cost, and going with a 2010 model.  It's marked down to $389, With a 20% off coupon at BBB and after tax, it brings it to $320 and we sold our jogger for $90, so $230 works out for us.

We tried the Quattro Duo and I really liked it - but we had 2 problems.  It didn't fit in my trunk, and a classic Graco problem - with our Chicco infant seat, the other seat cannot recline.  That was a deal breaker for me, my son will be 21 months and still naps on the go, but I can't transition him from car to stroller if he's not laying down.  Other than that, I was really impressed with the steering for a double of that length, and when you remove the tray, it folds very small for a stationary double!

  • Thanks...we have a Graco carseat, so it should be ok in that area.  How long do you estimate the stroller is?  I cannot find it in a store to look at, everything I see says online only.

  • I have  a Graco double stroller and the city select.  The Graco is okay, if you don't want to or can't spend the money on the select, but with the 2010 clearance prices it seems pretty close to the Graco price I think.  Both strollers have a good amount of storage in the baskets.

Anyways, the Graco is pretty long, but I have a honda odessey and have no probs fitting it.

And as for the sit and stand, I agree that would be a little much to ask of a 20 month old...

  • I haven't tried out the City Select with two babies in it yet...hopefully within a few weeks I will. ;-) But DH and I both LOVE it. It steers SO awesome.

Albeebaby.com has it for $400 with free shipping and no tax. That seems like a pretty good price for what you're getting and what it is capable of.

  • we're going with the Kolcraft Contours so that we have the room for 2 kids and 2 kids STUFF! They're super reasonable $, and offer so many seating options including just using it as a single.

My decision now is which one, they offer the Tandem II which is great, has all the features, etc. But they're releasing the Optima in May which is 10 lbs lighter (only 31 lbs) and a little shorter (since these were the 2 huge complaints of the larger one) but it has a couple less features.

  • If you like the city select check out the contours tandem stroller... I call it the more affordable version of the City select.. the only downsides are that it is a little heavier and the seats are a bit smaller than the city select.

PS- we have the city select and LOVE it... DH hated the price, but he loves the stroller now.. we've been through several strollers, I wish we just accepted the price and bought it in the first place!
