Detergent recs- switching from rockin green

I posted yesterday that my son has had a rash on and off for months. I am switching detergents to see if this is the issue.

Has anyone tried crunchy clean? Any other recommendations?

  • Arm & Hammer Essentials Free.

No perfumes, dyes, brighteners.  It scored fairly high for diaper use.

  • We use Charlie's soap. Works great for us.

  • I really like Planet.  I've used powerd and liquid and both have been fine.  It's relatively inexpensive, and I've been able to find it in stores, even in my very non-ecofriendly city.

Can I ask what his rash is like? DS has been battling a rash and weird dry red spots on his legs where the diapers are and a more rash bumpy under his belly button and while it looks better some days it looks awful another and I'm starting to wondering if its maybe the detergent. I swear it started when I started using a new bag of RnG but DH doesn't think so. Anyways just wondering thanks!

We use this too.  I've never had a single issue with stink of any kind and I can buy it at the grocery store.

  • Thirsties pre and super wash. It's a little spendy but SO worth the money. Gentle on fabrics and baby but kills all the yuckies.

I don't know what hers is like, but DD has a similar one... a couple of quarter-sized bright red patches in her groin area (sort of inner thighish but higher) that feel pretty dry. I recently switched away from Rockin Green too.

We still have it, but it seems to be getting a little better... I haven't stripped yet though.

We've been using Planet and I have some Tide I'm going to try out, too.

  • We have used cruncy clean, works good, right now we are using country save (can get it at the store) and bac out as needed, working great!
  • I just ran out of RnG and used Dawn. So far so good. I'm over their high prices for so little detergent. I might try regular Tide too but Planet worked okay for us except we got the ammonia stinkies faster than with RnG.

It is a flat red rash on his front area and even on his penis.  It is also on the side of his leg where the diaper is.
