37 weeks with a missing cerclage

After a very intense office visit Wednesday and the hospital under a spinal Thursday, it was determined that my cerclage is missing. At least twenty knots per stitch and the loops themselves cannot be found. I am 5cm dilated. This is all new to me since my last batch of twins was born at 32 weeks via emergency c-section due to water breaking and a foot coming out. My doctor says that the stitches will come out during labor or c-section or at a future annual exam or sometime. I would feel a lot better if I knew of this happening to someone else and them delivering the baby(ies) with an intact cerclage. The specialist who put them in was adamant that it needed to be out before labor but the OB seems okay with it. I am also getting really nervous about delivering. There's really not too much more time to pretend it's not happening. I will be 38 weeks next Thursday. Thanks for any advice on this situation.

I had a cerclage with my girls but my Dr. removed it before I was even prepped for my c-section.  

Im confused...or must have mis read.   How is it intact if you are 5cm dilated?
