Anyone here trying to lose weight

I just started, this is my first week and I need some tips.  I am keeping track of everything I eat and excercise.  I need ideas of food to eat that will make me feel full.

Also How much olive oil is okay to use? Like fo roasting carrots etc.  I feel like I should be using that, but don't know what else to do with veggies.

As far as excercise, what do you do? I walk the tred mill a couple days.  tried the 30 day shred which killed me.  My biggest problem is my thighs and butt.

Any suggestions, advice, tips...I will take

Re: Anyone here trying to lose weight

  • You might want to look at the Eat Clean Diet or at least check out the community message boards. It's basically combining a complex carb with a protein and most definitely keeps you full. You can eat five or six times per day depending on when you start and end your day.
  • I follow Weight Watchers (mostly). I am a member. It does work, and it is realistic whereas some of the others will help you lose weight such as South Beach, but that is not a true, attainable lifestyle, IMO.

I also run. I started with a friend who wanted to do the Turkey Day 5k and ended up really liking to run.  I didnt start running as a way to lose weight, though-it was just an added bonus.

  • If you have a Wii Fit the Jillian Ultimate fitness is awesome.  Running is also good.  I have trouble losing weight in my thighs too, but running helped that alot.  I started with couch to 5k and it was a good introduction to get me started.

My mom eats the Special K meal bars as a meal replacement and says they make her feel full.

  • I do WW too and have been really happy with it. I also work out 3 days a week (running/weights).

  • First of all, good for you for keeping track of eating and excercise...that's major! These are some foods that keep me full:

Hard Boiled Egg. Just one for breakfast seems to fill me up more than if I had eaten 2 scrambled or overeasy (weird, but true)

Hummus with reduced fat pita chips or veggies

Turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, avocado mustard on whole wheat

These are just a few. Basically, the only thing that works for me is not having junk in the house (chips, candy, cookies, anything "snacky") I'll replace those with turkey jerky, some kind of nut which will satisfy cravings with a handful. If I need something sweet, I'll make myself hot chocolate with fat free milk and light whipped cream...major filler upper! And water...yes, water. Drink it like crazy, but make it good if you don't like plain water. I'll use crystal light or an Emergen C packet to flavor. As far as cooking veggies, steam them! This will keep nutrients in and you don't have to use any kind of oil. If cooking with olive oil, just use it sparingly...a little goes a long way. I usually just use the fat free PAM spray for all my cooking.

Excercise will keep you feeling full, I swear! When on the treadmill, keep upping the incline and speed. This will blast that fat in the thighs and butt. Or go for a brisk walk and walk up some hills. I could go on and on, but won't bore you. Good Luck!!!
