Re: Bed-Rest Mamas Daily Check-In ~ SATURDAY ~
QOTD: I have a zoo, although the past two weeks, it got smaller with the loss of my favorite Hedgehug, sniffle sniffle. We still have one gigantic 100+ pound tub of love German Shephard/Lab mix, two kitties, and fish. I'm on modified bedrest, so its not soo bad right now, but they are enjoying having me home 24/7. They used to be home alone for long stretches when DH and I worked (at least 12 hours). So, needless to say, they are spoiled! My one cat has always been a "mommas boy" but since I got PG, its become unbearable at times. He's always where I am, all the time, begging for attention!
No updates today - although my mom is coming to finish touching up painting in the nursery, and then we will move the furniture back into the room, and she ordered the bedding last week, so that should be in soon! So excited to have the nursery put together now that its painted! Then I'll be able to get back to sewing cloth diapers/wipes, and perhaps my budget will enjoy a nice long break from my diaper purchasing
.
Hello! We have one dog. Her name is Gracie. SHe is a Weimaraner. That is how I got my screen name Grayweim. SHe is my first born and I adore her:) SHe is 9 years old and so full of life. She lays in the bed with me ALL day like the great girl that she is. Right before Christmas we noticed that the top of one side of her head was slightly sunken in. We took her to vet and they said it could be a brain tumor. So we decided to have an MRI of her brain last month(right before my bedrest started) They told us there might be hope and maybe with chemo we could buy her a year or two. So the MRI results were not good. She would need 20 radiation treatments to her brain and it would not be a cure. It might give her 2 months- 8 months?? She is such a nervous dog. Those treatments would just kill her in more ways than one. So we have decided not to do anything. SHe is not in any pain and so far is acting fine. The vet said she will at some point have trouble walking and then we will eventually have to put her down. I am beyond terrified of this. I pray to god to keep her with is until after the twins are born because I really feel that I will get so upset that i might go into labor because of it. My husband and I cry almost everynight. We have had her since she was 6 weeks old. So that is my pet story. It has made this pregnancy such a bittersweet time. So happy to be having my twins and so sad - well u know.
On a happier note. I'll be 28 weeks tomorrow! Yippie my first goal! Now on to the 30's I pray. Have a great weekend everyone! Tammy
QOTD: No pets anymore. We had 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs up until 5 months ago. They were sweet and adorable but not a good fit for our family at this time. They are VERY, VERY needy. Meaning, they are not content to hang around and just be cool, they need constant attention. My Grandmother was in love with one and recently lost my Grandfather who she had been married to for 53 years so we gave one to her and then we gave the other to my Aunt who loves dogs like crazy. So, they are both still in the family, they just don't live at our house anymore. I can't wait to have another dog one day, when the kids get a bit bigger.
Update: I am officially off bed rest as of today. OB says I can resume my normal life, with the exception of going out of town. We'll see what this will bring in terms of labor. My c-section date is scheduled for 3/14 when I will be just over 39 weeks, if I make it that far. I hope it would be cool for me to still hang out with you guys and keep updated on everyone's progress.
Congrats to the newest babies in our group!
Yaaaaaay! That is so exciting. Good job!
QOTD: Nope, no pets here. We were keeping my in-laws Beagle mix at our old house while my SIL was away at college (my MIL was having a hard time with him sneaking out the fence and running off) but when we moved and SIL graduated, he moved back in with the in-laws. He was a sweetie and we didn't mind taking care of him. However, I really, really, don't like animal hair and both DH and DD are very allergic to animals, so as of now, no plans to add any animals. Maybe one day. I do love dogs and always grew up with them owning the house, so it isn't a like/dislike issue.
UPDATES: Since I have snuck out TWICE this week, I am on strict house arrest. I went to a local beauty school yesterday with one of my SILs to get a cheap haircut, and it took FOUR HOURS. DD was an angel the entire time, but we were gone way too long, so DH wasn't happy. Good news is I love the cut, and slept like a rock last night, so I feel great today. Just finished crocheting DD a hat that she still has on. Being very, very good until Monday's appointment.
New to this board..........hello all.

Reason: shortened cervix
Still here in the hospital. But things are stable for now, so I'm hopeful I can cook the boys a bit longer. I've had the steroid shots and they're doing so well, I'm confident that they'll come out and be fine. Hopefully, they'll only need minimal NICU time. Well, a mommy can hope, right?
QOTD: Do you have any pets? How are they handling the bedrest and upcoming changes? If you have no pets, might you consider one in the future?
DH and I have 2 kitties and 1 puppy. Our puppy is doing great with us not being home. We sent him to our in-laws (please, no flames, it was a very difficult decision). He's a Siberian Husky and he needs a lot of time and attention. With me in the hospital and DH coming here to be with me a lot, we just couldn't give him the attention he needs and deserves. As soon as I'm discharged from the hospital, he'll be coming home, so it's a temporary arrangement. We'd never, EVER give away our dog! Our in-laws have another dog and they play together all the time. They're best buds, so he's having a wonderful puppy vacation.
Our kitties are doing alright. They're pretty independent anyway, but they know I'm not there and they're not very happy about it. When DH comes home, they keep looking past him to see if I'm coming home behind him. Then they get mad and go hide when I don't walk through the door. But I think they'll be fine once I'm back in the apartment, they always cuddle with me and I don't think they feel as if DH is a good substitute.
I'm not sure how they're all going to react to the boys. We've been trying to prepare them, but with the hospital bedrest, it's been hard to follow all of the advice from the vet. But we'll figure it out. We're a family, pets included.
QOTD: I have a doggie. He basically goes to who ever has my daugther. He spends a good amount of time with my IL's, he is home when my husband is home. I think he is doing well. I am glad he is will people he knows.
Update: My cervix was up to 2 cm yesterday, which was great but they aren't letting me go home any time soon. The Indocin cause the baby's ductus alteriosus to narrow a little, so no more Indocin. I was upset about the narrowing but the docs assure me that it will go back to how it was. I am on Procardia now. It gave me a headache last night but I am feeling better now. Kinda lonely today.
QOTD: We have 2 Dobermans. They can be pretty needy but they are also comforting and protective. I feel a little guilty because the puppy barks at me when she needs to go out and I just wait for DH to do it most of the time.
Update: Sleeping is getting ever more difficult. No matter how I lay I wake up with a shooting pain. It goes away with a change of position though. Ugh.
Preemie ID DDs; then DS; then natural M/C; now due 10/17
High risk for pre-term: weekly Makena injections

I have two German Shepards, one boy and one girl. They are about a year and a half old. I am not sure how they are taking me not being at home, but I watch them and my kids on a web cam every night. DH has started to set the baby stuff up so that they are used to seeing it before she comes home. The doctors also recommended that we have a couple of blankets used at the hospital placed in the playpen and our bedroom so they are used to her smell before we bring her home.
Only 18 more days until induction or c-section at 34 weeks. I sure hope she doesn't have to stay at the hospital long!
QOTD: We have a170# great dane named Bentley. He is back in Tucson with hubby, so he doesn't think much about me being on bed rest, cause I'm not there. He and hubby will be coming to here to San Antonio week after next, but Poor Baby will be in a kennel, as we're staying with someone and he can be quite a handful. His crate is the size of a twin bed...not exactly a minor imposition!
The kennel is just down the street so hubby can go play with him during the day, but it will be a couple weeks before we're in a place where we can have him again. I feel awful for the poor guy, cause truth is, its because I'm on strict bed rest that hubby is coming here early and therefore Ben has to come with him. If I were just here on modified, they would be staying in Tucson until we moved into the rental house. Oh the joys of living life in the military!
Updates: Just take a look at my ticker
