Marissa?

What do you think of this name? What is the correct spelling? It is starting to slowly grow on me.

Re: Marissa?

  • Nothing wrong with, but I went to school with a girl by that name and she was so mean, so I have a negative association with it.

  • It was my childhood BFFs name so I love it! That's the right way to spell it, IMHO.

  • I like it.

I wouldn't use it, only because I can't see an attractive nickname to use.

  • Great name.  Not overused.

I had a dear friend who passed away and that was her name.  But now I have a niece named Melissa and my cousin (who is close) named her daughter Marissa.  So it's off the table for us.

  • It's my name so of course I'm biased but I love it! That is how I spell it too, and for a nickname I was always called "Missy".
  • My name is Marisa. And I've always received a lot of compliments.
The only thing is that I'm constantly correcting the pronunciation, (my whole life).

Marissa is the default. Marissa like Melissa.

However, my name is Marisa (ma - ree - sa) like Maria with an s.

I think Marissa and Marisa are unique and not commonly used. I prefer names like it.
