Re: Bed-Rest Mamas Daily Check-In ~ FRIDAY ~

  • QOTD:  I don't know that I have eaten anything too weird, so maybe escargot or frog legs.  Actually, maybe the weirdness thing I have eaten is whatever that stuff was that the hospital was calling dinner last night.

Update:  I have to go downstairs for an u/s this morning to check the baby's circumlation because I am on Indocin (Indomethacin).   The will do a cervical length again at that time.  My last CL was on Wednesday and it was 0.4cm/0.5cm. . .  Not good.  I am in the antepartum overflow area.  My room is small but I have my own bathroom and a nice view out my window.  Much more comfortable than L&D. I have my laptop now and my husband bought me lots of snacks last night.  They took out my IV before I left L&D but I still have to the port in my hand.  I only have to be on the monitor one hour a day now.  I miss my daugther terribly.  My husband is supposed to bring her by for a visit after work.

  • QOTD: Strangest thing I've eaten was probably escargo, or a raw quails egg at a sushi restaurant.  Cows tongue tasted good, but the idea weirded me out a bit!

Updates: Nothing!  And believe me, I'll take nothing!  Sad to be missing my mom's 50th surprise birthday bash in Denver.  I love, love, love my family and missing a party is like torture!  She will be coming here on Sunday, however, for a week, so I'll get to see her soon, and my brother is going to Skype me in for the surprise.  I'll have to put on some make up and do something with my hair, as I'll be on the big slideshow screen...scary!

  • QOTD: Soft shell crabs.  Not strange to a lot of people, but the crunchiness got to me.

UPDATES: Nada.  Hoping to get a haircut today, but we shall see.

  • Good morning!

QOTD:  I avoid weird foods... I guess the strangest that I have tried would also be escargot.  Boring...

Update:  I get to go to the OB today.  SO EXCITED about that.  Looking forward to him confirming that I can be off of bed rest starting tomorrow.  I suppose he could change his mind.  Also looking forward to finding out my scheduled c-section date, assuming I make it that far and don't go into labor before then.  This next week should be interesting....

  • QOTD:  I'm so picky that I don't really eat any unusual foods.  I will try most things once.  So boring, I know.

Updates:  NST went well today.  So hoping I can make it through the weekend.  The in-laws are coming into town today so it will be interesting.  Last time they were here I was on hospital bedrest.  It will be harder not to do anything with them here.

Hoping for a boring, restful day for us all!

  • The strangest thing I've had was this, the African horned cucumber.

    horned melon

Some of you may have seen this since most stores seem to have it in their exotic fruit section. I was being adventurous (as I usually am when it comes to food) and purchased one many years ago. Well, I gotta tell ya... after I cut it open, I wasn't to excited about how it looked inside but I still tried it- didn't like it ::laughs::. It didn't really seem to have a flavor to me and that was the problem because I kept focusing on the jelly-like texture. Ugh!

In any event, I'm still here... hangin' around. I think my contractions are increasing in frequency, especially 2 days before I get my next prog. shot. My doc is suggested weeks ago that we may want to decrease the spacing of the shots depending on how much my contractions increase (like every 6 six days). I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing now qualifies for that but, I will find out at my next peri appt.

  • QOTD - I'm not picky, but also haven't eaten much wierd food that I can think of... guess I need to be more adventuresome after baby arrives!

Updates - (kinda long, sorry!) Went to OB today - my cervix is funneling a tiny bit, down to 17mms, but no change with fundal pressure, so continue my modified bedrest at home, and back in two weeks.  (And obviously I overdid it yesteray, so today I've got my feet up and my hubby home to spoil me :)) OB didn't see need for cerclage or any other measures, and I'm already on Procardia.

Baby is looking good - last growth scan she was in the 37th percentile, today she was at the 50th percentile - pretty good numbers for a two vessel cord, so the Dr was ecstatic.

Weight gain of 23 pounds this pregnancy as of 26 weeks, 2 days - but no mention of this from the OB.  I go in 2 weeks for my second glucose tolerance test.  I passed the first one at 16 weeks, so I've got hope! (I have PCOS , so am at an increased risk for GD).

On a sad, wierd note - found out today that my Peri/MFM Dr committed suicide about a week ago.  So totally wierded us out.  I had a whole conversation with him about his daughter, etc. at my last appt.... my OB told me so I'd understand why they were going to follow my cervix length now instead of the MFM.

  • QOTD: I once had a bowl of pasta with crawfish, squid, and seafood I didn't recognize.  At exotic restaurants, I have a habit of ordering whatever the person next to me orders.  It has led me to all sorts of interesting new flavors.

Update: DH and I went to an infant CPR class last night.  I didn't have specific permission from my OB but he let me go to a breastfeeding class 2 weeks ago and not much has changed since then ... so I made an executive decision.  I didn't participate though, just sat there with my feet up.  It was really useful information!

  • QOTD: I'm very cautious when it comes to what I eat so I've never eaten anything considered strange...lol. I pretty much stick with what I know.

Update: I went to check-in w/ my OB today for the first time since my cerclage was placed. My cervix is still funneling/shortening. So they put me on bed rest for the duration of the pregnancy. I go back weekly for cervical length checks and if it continues to shorten I'll be admitted to the hospital and give steroids to mature my LO's lungs just in case he comes early. *SIGH* I'm scared but I'm going to do what needs to be done and pray that LO keeps baking until we're past the point of worry which I guess would be around 35 weeks.
