Tell me more about the ergo newborn insert. Is DS still using it? How big is he now?

I'm butting in!  We used ours until she was probably 4.5 months.  After that, you have the option of just using the bottom piece to prop them up, but we've just put Stella in the Ergo with out it since then!

Is it used more for development or size?

Sorry, I typically only get on the boards when I'm at work.  

We haven't used the insert in almost a month.  W outgrew it in a red-hot second. So, to answer your 2nd question - it has as much to do with size (it takes up too much space and just squishes them once they are around 13 lbs or so) as it does development (head/neck control).

I'm also butting in. From what I've heard it also has to do with leg development, but at 3 months we started using it and never got an infant insert, we just kinda froggied his legs up inside instead instead of making him spread them
