...and it was wonderful!
He had been waking crying almost every two hours in his crib down the hall (he is 3 months), some nights every hour. He just wasnt getting the sleep i thought he should be getting so i made the decision to bring him into our bed. We have a king bed and he was in the middle of us. We removed big blankets and pillows. DH and I are light sleepers, not obese, dont smoke and I am nursing him, oh, and we have a firm mattress and no gaps between headboard and mattress.
LO slept the whole night! He semi-woke once and nursed for about 60 seconds and dozed back off.
Is this ok? Safe? Is there anything else i should do to make our bed safer? i think we will continue to have him sleep with us.
Re: slept w/ LO in our bed for the first time last night!
Ditto what is in bold Well, really ditto all of it. Yeah for extra snuggles
excellent!!
i HATE bedsharing but the baby loves it so we're doing it too.
I looooove bedsharing - especially waking up to a happy smily baby first thing in the morning. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Here's some info:
How can we co-sleep safely?
Co-sleeping has been the normal way that parents sleep with their babies for thousands of years. Cribs are new! Safe co-sleeping is totally possible, and the benefits can be incredible.
On this board co-sleeping means sleeping in the same room as your baby: in a bassinet, arms reach co-sleeper, pack and play etc. Bed-sharing means just what it sounds like: baby in bed with you!
Here is an article about the benefits of co-sleeping:

This is an excellent checklist to use to double check safety:

Many of our members have found that a king-sized bed is a huge help in reducing co-sleeping woes. Others have found that side-carring the crib (removing a side and sliding it up beside your bed) is an excellent solution for their family. Be creative!
