DS #2 is only 12 days old, but so far does not do well with bedsharing. He likes to sleep being held in my arms or on my shoulder, but that doesn't really work for nighttime. With DS #1, I would nurse laying down in bed and he would pass right out. With DS #2, he does not fall asleep from nursing, and after nursing, he will be awake, so II pick him up until hes asleep/drowsy, and then put him back in bed next to me, but he keeps waking up. I guess this is just a vent! =(
Re: My newborn is not into bedsharing yet =(
Vent away!
We had the opposite- for us, DS1 didn't sleep well bedsharing and DS2 does. We went from a PNP in our room to the crib with DS1. He STILL does not sleep well at all when he lays down with us (he is 4). From the day he was born he was much better off in his own bed. On the other hand, DS2 slept with me in the hospital and still spends many nights in our bed (we put him to sleep in his crib and transfer him to our bed when he wakes). Just go with whatever works best and gets you all some good zzzzzz's!
We had the same issue with #2, he just is not a bedsharer. In the end it really worked out for the best since from 12/09-11/10 we had #1 back in bed with us full-time. #2 has probably slept with us and it's always only one of us less than 10 times. With 2 people in bed he absolutely will not sleep at all and gets pissed off.
The upside, whereas with #1 we still have to be with him until he falls asleep and instantly comes looking for us when he wakes #2 is significantly more independent. Since he was an infant once he hit the drowsy, fluttery eyes stage we could put him down and walk away and when he wakes up he plays, reads and talks to himself until he ends up pooping and then starts hollering for us.
