How many times a day for cereal?

I just started feeding DS rice cereal at night, my doctor said to start only once a day, but my question is how long do you wait before you go twice a day?  I forgot to ask this at the appointment.  Also, at what age did you start other foods?  Just curious what other mom's are doing!

Re: How many times a day for cereal?

  • We did rice for a couple of weeks.  When we started solids we mixed them w/ the rice and now we are just doing solids w/ no rice.  Once we start making little meals we will integrate rice back into meals.

  • I skipped the rice cereal (well we tried it twice)

I give them oatmeal in the morning, fruit at lunch, and veggie at dinner.

When I first started solids I was doing oatmeal in the morning at night.  We introduced fruits & veggies two weeks after starting the oatmeal.  They love it all!

  • ive been given my lil boy rice cereal at night before he goes to bed...after i did that for a week i started giving him veggie baby food once a day...and he does really well with it....we started rice cereal at 4 months then baby food at 4 months 1 week ...hes now 4 and a half months...loves green beans
  • We were just at the doctor this afternoon & talked about starting solids.  She said to start with the rice cereal twice a day for 3 days, then replace one of the feedings with a stage one vegetable for 3 days.  But I think I'm going to just start with the rice cereal for a week or more before adding anything else in the mix.
