I'm seeing an RE soon. I called my insurance company to check what benefits I have for infertility. And they don't cover IUI at all.
Has anyone experienced this and do you have any clue generally how much IUI costs?

My RE told me that they charge $325 for the IUI itself. Does your insurance cover your monitoring appts and meds? The monitoring appts are a huge expense if paying OOP.

My insurance does not cover any treatment for IF. I discussed doing IUI with my RE and for monitoring and IUI on injectable meds, he estimates $1,000 + cost of meds. However, we ended up going straight to IVF so I don't have any actual knowledge of the cost. Just my RE's estimate.
Being OOP really stinks. Sorry you have to go through it.
ETA - the estimate above includes all monitoring appointments (i.e. u/s), but not blood draws.

Its common with insurance company's not to cover fertility which I think is stupid! My insurance does not cover anything with fertility not even the tests before hand so annoying. Im not sure how much an IUI is but I was told that the tests are what cost more then the procedure.
I might be in the same boat. I'm pretty sure my insurance does not cover IUI, but the RE's office is calling to find out. I'll be stalking this post in case I have to shell out the cash.

Up until this year they've always covered u/s with me paying a portion until my deductible is met. Now the new processor is requesting more information, so I don't know if u/s will be covered. For this cycle with injections and IUI, I had four u/s. Then I had the IUI, which is all I've paid for so far (they require payment day of and then you deal with insurance on that because most of the time it's not covered at all). The IUI itself was $250.
My RE charges $525 for IUI that includes the IUI itself, the sperm washing, and all the monitoring. I am OOP for meds too and spent about $140 on meds for my last IUI.

My insurance doesn't cover any IF treatment. My IUI cost around $600 when all was said and done. That included the IUI and sperm wash, ultrasounds, & meds.
I have no IF coverage, but I was covered for testing with my RE. Now that I am moving on to an IUI, I doubt even my monitoring visits will be covered. I was told that the IUI would cost about $500 to $750. It is different at each office. If you have meds then the cost will go up.
But just a heads up to anyone who needs Clomid, a friend told me she got hers for $9.00 at Wal-Mart. I don't know what factors are involved in her getting that price, but hopefully it's the same for everyone.

When I did IUIs at the OBGYN I payed 170.00 OOP. My insurance covered my u/s and I think they were around 60.00 each.
At the RE, IUI with all monitoring, sperm wash, etc is around 700.00. I don't know if my insurance will cover the u/s or not. I assume that since they covered it at the OB office, they will also cover it at the RE office. My meds are around 1,000 OOP when I start my injectable cycles.

Clearly price changes based on everything that goes into your specific IUI, the doc's office, the area you live in etc. And since everyone compared to me is on the lower end of the spectrum, I too thought I'd give a break out of my up coming IUI costs so you can see how it can cost me OOP over $2,000.
IUI $388, Sperm wash $84, three ultrasounds & b/w $1,389
We're going to start in late March. I'm hoping some/most of the meds are actually covered. We'll see. And I hope I don't need all three of the ultrasounds since it's the highest cost.
I'm sorry, I don't know pricing exactly; but I am in pretty much the same boat. My insurance doesn't really pay for any of our fertility treatments - not even any testing or blood work. It sucks!
We might be on the path to IUI as well. I was really hoping that it wouldn't come to this, but c'est la vie. GL to you!

Mine ended up being anbywhere from $3,000-$4,000 with full OOP.
Each monitoring appt was about $600 for u/s & BW (X3 per cycle, some needed 4=$1,800)
Meds, about 20 vials of Repronex (@ $60ish a piece X20= $1,200) Some cycles I needed about 30 vials.
IUI procedure/washing/prep about $400
Bloodwork/P4 supps= $100ish
It can seriously add up. My clinic has a check-out sheet that shows all the prices, yours should too, call and ask them.
GL!!
