My 3 1/2 week old usually sleeps for no more than an hour or two without waking up needing to be changed. Once he's changed he will not go back to sleep. This is despite swaddling him and having white noise, etc. I have him in GMD PF and Thirsties covers or BG xs. I've tried fleece liners with the PF and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
DH is thinking of trying disposables at night to see if he'll sleep a bit longer. I know having the wet feeling can help with potty training later but it seems like all this waking up is disrupting his sleep. We're not expecting him to STTN, just maybe more like 3 hours (he probably averages 45 min - an hour). Do you think this is CD related? I would appreciate any advice.
Re: CD = Shorter stretches of sleep? Help!
My favorite cloth diaper shop!
I personally wouldn't jump to being CD related. Being only 3 1/2 weeks old, it could be any number of things but I would chalk it up to being only 3 1/2 weeks. Are you nursing? Maybe he just wants to eat a lot or is going though a growth spurt.
Good luck, I hope his sleep patterns get easier to deal with soon.
No, I don't think it is CD related. I know at 3.5 weeks you would think 3 hours would be SO EASY, but really it isn't. I swear for the first 2 months, your LO's sleeping is going to be crazy. My LO is 5 months and it is still crazy half the time.
I know you don't want to use disposables, but go ahead and use them one night. It will give you peace of mind that it isn't the diapers.
ETA - There is a growth spurt at about 3 weeks too. There was also one at 7-10 days. There will be one at 6 weeks. Basically there is a bajillion of them between birth and 3 months. It slows down, they go longer between feedings and it gets better. A lot of babies at sensitive to wet diapers even in disposables.
