How to switch Drs in same practice?

I want to switch to another ob/gyn in my current Dr's association.  How can I do this without causing too many issues or offending anyone?

I always thought my Dr was good, and haven't had any issues with him.  But he was on vacation last week, so I had to see another Dr in his association.  Turns out this other Dr is awesome, a lot more informative and supportive, and both my husband and I loved him.  I am 41 weeks pregnant right now, so will not do it with this baby, but would like to going forward.

 Thanks for your thoughts!!!

Re: How to switch Drs in same practice?

  • This same thing happened to me I was seeing a doctor in my practice and ended up having an emergency C-Section at 28 weeks and my doctor wasn't the one on call.  The doctor who did my C-Section was much more supportive and over all a better doctor in my eyes.  Ever since I had my LO I just make appointments with the new doctor and nothing has been said about it.  I also think that my pervious doctor missed a lot of things leading to my early delivery which I think would make going back to him very uncomfortable for me and him.

  • I would just start scheduling your appointments with the doctor you prefer.  I'm sure its common, to switch especially after you've been pregnant and have seen multiple doctors in the same pratice.

I love the doctor who did my delivery, and would switch to her in a heartbeat if she was at the office that I usually go to. Unfortunalty, the office I go to has 4 locations, and she is out of the 2 farthest away from me.

  • I did it. There are 4 doctors in my practice and I switched when I was about 20 weeks along. She had me visit all 4 doctors because any one of them could deliver the baby depending on who was on call that day, so when I saw my current doctor I just felt soo comfortable I just starting scheduling my appointments with him and haven't thought twice about my old doctor. I just hope that she isn't the one on call when I go into labor.
