Carrier rec for summer with a newborn

I have a Sleepy Wrap that I used with DS for the first few months (he was born in February, though).  I also have a Boba 2G Carrier that I used with him when he was a little older.  I'm currently pregnant and due in late June, and I'm wondering if a Sleepy Wrap will be too "hot" for the baby?  Would you get a lighter-style one?  If so, what do you recommend?  I should also say that I've been eyeing up the Maya Wrap Ring Slings...but, I'm not sure what I'll do with that.  What do you suggest to help me round out my small carrier stash?

Thanks.

  • A Balibaby Stretch wrap would be a good option.

  • I would go with a Bali Breeze stretch wrap or even better a single layer ring sling.

I bought the Bali Breeze gauze wrap and found the multiple layers to still be too hot in the summer (but I live in SW Florida).  I think had I had the stretchy one, it would have been better, because I could pop her in and out, and you can't do that with the gauze one.

My linen ring sling on the other hand was amazing.  I did the newborn hug hold with legs froggied, and it was a lifesaver.  It's still my favorite, quick carrier.

Which linen ring sling do you have?

I got mine on Etsy, but the owner is on maternity leave and her store isn't open right now.  A lot of girls have ordered from here and had good experiences:

  • Depends on how hot (as in are you wearing a lot outside) and what sort of carrier ;-)

Stretchy wrap:  Bali Baby Stretch - thinner and more supportive than others

Woven wrap: Vatanai - my fav!

Gauze wrap:  Bali Baby Breeze - this is the thinnest/coolest option

Mei tai - babyhawk - they are fairly cool because there's not much bulk and they are "open"

buckle carrier - solarweave connecta (although I think these may only pop up used now days)

ring sling - I second the sleepingbaby rec - she has info on which slings are good for summer.  Sakura bloom is another good option - runs a little more but a single layer linen would be lovely - both of these options will "last" longer than a maya wrap as they are more supportive (although a maya isn't a bad option if you are only looking for something for the first bit)
