Philadelphia Babies

maternity consignment

hello...newbie here.  I am 17 weeks along and really enjoying the few maternity pants I have been able to find and I refuse to rubberband my pre-preggo pants.I'm also a bit cheap when it comes to buying clothes, especially ones I'm only going to be wearing for a few months.  Any suggestions for maternity consignment in the philly / south jersey / delaware area? Thanks!

  • There is a place called Worn yesterday on main street in manayunk. I have never been inside but I passed it recently and the sign said they have kids and maternity clothes.

  • I got great local deals through Craigslist. Not only did I get pants for $5, but I met local Moms and chatted about docs, hospitals, experiences, etc.  I also now have their contact info and we talked about exchanging things down the road as their kids get older and mine is born (ie mobiles, toys, etc).

If you're comfortable with meeting strangers, it's a good option. I didn't go for those not willing to let me try things on or who insisted I meet them in a public place.  Some requested I only come when their husbands were home, which I understood and was fine with.

Two other options are freecycle.org (local to your are) and Kohl's....I think I just got lucky, but they had a BOGO event on Monday that may still be going on. I also raided the winter clearance rack and got a few things for a cold March/April.

    I hear ya! Good Luck.

  • I'm also 17 weeks. I don't have any consignment ideas....but So far I've bought stuff online at Ann Taylor Loft and Gap. If you buy a little at a time, you can get some stuff for good prices on sale. This weekend I'm going to do some more shopping myself. I'm hitting the sales this weekend and will try old navy, gap (again) kohls, and check in at target again. If you check online first, you can find which places have maternity selections in-store. Good luck! Laura
