So i get bored with my hair around this time every year, and this year its extra super long because i didnt do my usual 'CHOP'. Besides everytime i cut it i end up regretting it.
so i thought well my hair is super straight and limp and boring, why not a perm!?
so i started looking it up and doing some research and we as pregos can get a perm but who knows if it will take to our prego hair!
Damn Hormones. They ruin everything. LOL.
I am so not willing to pay that kind of money to not know if it'll even work so i guess im going to wait.. dern
Re: thinking about getting a perm
I've been thinking about this too. I have naturally curly hair, but it looks like it came from the 1980s unless I use a ton of product. It takes me as much time to make my hair curly as it does to straiten it.
I've been thinking of two options, #1 getting it done at the beauty school we have in town or #2 getting a do-it-yourself kit at Sally's. Our beauty school is half price or less compared to regular salons and the work is just as good. The kits at Sally's aren't much at all. I figured for the price, it might be worth trying.
DON'T DO IT!!!
I love you and can't let you do this to your hair. Its so stinky and damaging and if you regret your haircut after doing it don't you think you might regret a perm? I did, it was a HUGE waste of money. Just do some highlights or change the color up.

I had a perm done in January. It has already fallen out.
Do. Not. Do. That.
Spend the money you'd spend on a perm (tip included) and get a new color and style, then buy a bunch of new products to make doing your hair fun again.
I just got mine repermed last week. I love it! I have friends that didn't realize I have straight hair. It's so much easier to style than my straight hair. Just a little product and I'm done. And I'm not always in a ponytail. She uses large rods, but not the largest since my hair is really long and weighs down the curls. And, on the low maintenance list, I only have to have it done twice a year. Highlights and/or color require much more frequent touch ups.
I would not recommend a beauty school just because the timing has to be just right and I personally would not want to risk it. But today's perms are a lot less damaging than the ones of my high school days. My hair is still really soft and shiny without any extra treatment or conditioner than I used before. I have lots of fine hair, but I shed like a maniac. The curls help hide that for me, too.
No i think i would really enjoy a perm more than cuting and coloring my hair. I do a color about twice a year ( long story short, i trusted one person to do my hair for a long time and she was back at home, i went home twice a year) Some times i do something drastic sometimes i just get the usual trim and highlight. This past time i went with a drastic color change, and its pretty much faded out now, im almost back to my natural color.
I never said anything about getting a perm and a highlight/color. I have had a perm before, but its been awhile. I used to scrunch or curl my hair everyday. I love my hair curly, i just dont have the time nor the patents anymore for a curling iron (ive also lost the touch)
Besides if perms are done right they do look natural. I didnt know my mom was perming her hair for YEARS and i swore up and down she had naturally curly hair. I think it really just depends on the type of perm, the type of hair, and the stylist doing the perm.
I dont think i will get anything done until after Ian is born but im pretty sure im going to get a perm.
