Anyone have thoughts about BumGenius vs gDiapers?

We are just starting to research cloth diaper options, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience/recommendations for BumGenius or gDiapers? Especially when it comes to laundry and how many you need overall of each. TIA!

I have almost all BGs and I love them! hey seem to have a overall good reputation on this board.I have not used GDiapers, but them seem to be either you love them or you hate them...

A word of warning though, CDs fit every baby differently, you don't want to commit yourself to only one type of diaper, you will want to try a few and see what works for you.

I started with prefolds and covers for the newborn stage and then tried a few different types of one-size diapers to see what worked best for us. I know www.jilliansdrawers.com does a trial of one-size (I did not use this though)

Look above at the FAQs and that will answer a lot.

We use gdiapers for Natalie and we love them, they fit her great!    I hate gdiapers for Dominic, they just don't fit him well.

That said, don't sink too much into one "system."

I'll echo the other ladies... Don't buy all one kind, because you never know how they'll work til they're on. My entire stash is a hodgepodge of 1-2 of a bunch of different brands. I actually don't have more than 2 of any brand of dipe.

Personally, I don't mind gDiapers, but I basically use them as our back-up dipes. I only put them on DS when we're going out or our other dipes are in the laundry. I don't dislike them, but pockets and AIOs are just so much easier and so much better IMO. I prefer my BGs to gDs, but neither are among my favorites. If you're drawn to the option of using cloth and disposable inserts when needed, check out flips. I like them a lot more than gDiapers.

I didn't hate gdiapers; they didn't leak or anything, I just like my other diapers more! 

 I love my bumgenius 4.0 pockets and the bumgenius flips.  I definitely agree with previous posts; don't invest too much in one type until you know that you love it.  I wish I had done a trial instead of buying every diaper under the sun and then trying to sell the ones that I didn't like

I use gdiapers when DD was a newborn and they were fine for that stage, honestly. I wouldn't like them at ALL now, but when she was itty bitty? They were easy.

 

I LOVE my BG though. They fit her very well.

 

I agree, don't commit totally to one type of diaper. The example I always give is before DD was born I thought I'd have a whole stash of Rumparooz. Well, RaR is a GREAT diaper. However, DD is huge. She's already totally unsnapped in the one we have and I don't foresee it fitting her for as long as the rest of her diapers, as I still have growing room in them. I own more BG than anything else thanks to being gifted some, but otherwise our stash is a big hodgepodge.
