We finally have a plan!

After 4 months of tests, specialist visits, and waiting around for the next doctor's appointment... we are finally getting somewhere.  DH and I met with our RE this afternoon to discuss next steps. DH's test results showed that when they process his sperm, most of them "don't make it" and he is left with less than a million viable sperm. Based on this, she said that IUI is very unlikely to be successful for us so we're moving right to IVF/ICSI.  But, she thinks we have a great chance of success with that since my test results were very good.

Our clinic works in series and I'm not going to make the current series since the dates we'd be doing retrieval and transfer would interfere with our vacation plans. So, we're looking at April/May for the actual IVF.  We have an IVF class scheduled for 3/14 so I'll get more info on the exact timing then. I'm really excited, and hopeful for the first time in a while.

I told DH as we were leaving the appointment, we need to live it up for the next 2 months. I decided I'm tossing the OPKs, green tea, having sex when I'm not in the mood, etc. and just enjoying my life. We've been TTC since we got married and I'm looking forward to having a couple months where it doesn't dominate our lives. At least now I can drink up a storm when we are on vacation next month!

    I'm so excited for you! You are getting the best of everything-- IVF with good odds, a vacation with many many cocktails, no temping/worrying or TRYING for 2 months. I'm so jealous. I want to go back to my pre-TTC life when I wasn't so stressed. We've been trying since we got married as well so I completely relate to that!!  Enjoy your time off :-)

    DOR (FSH 24.3)/ terrible egg quality ; homozygous MTHFR c677t
    5 IUI's: 2/11 to 6/11 and 1/12= BFN
    OE IVF#1-4 8/11-6/12= all BFN
    DE IVF#1 11/12 bad embryos= BFN
    DE IVF #2 2/13 BFP/Beta hell: m/c 5w6d
    CFNBC 7 months, not doing well; decided on guarantee program at RBA w/frozen DE
    DE IVF #3 1/14  ET 4BB; BFP;M/C 5w1d, incomplete m/c; MVA extraction in ER 7w1d

    DE FET#1 ET 3/1714; BFP, beta 1 3/27= 197, beta 2 3/31= 1586, beta 3 4/7= 13879!!
    First u/s= Twins with HBs at 6w2d! We are Team Pink x 2!!

    So happy for both you and DH!!!  Enjoy your time off, never know....they say sometimes not trying is the best recipe for TTC!  Cheers!
    TTC since 10/09 Me-43 DH-44 RE and testing 10/10-11/10, Recommending IVF 1/11 New RE AMA and DOR-DH low motility IVF #1.1 cancelled 3/11 due to poor response IVF #1.2 May 2011, one perfect 8-cell embryo, 3dt-BFN, IVF #2.1 Converted to IUI d/t poor response. New RE 9/2011. IVF 2.2 completed using HGH,EPP,DHEA, Q-10 and accupuncture. Transferred one 8-cell, grade one embryo on 10/19. BFP 10/31/11 Chemical pregancy on 11/2/11. Started stims for IVF #3, our final try, on 12-2-11. ET on 12/18. Transferred 3 Grade A embryos-BFFN Planning DE IVF, late March/early April- Donors ER expected to be 4/2-4/4. PAIF/SAIF welcome

    Thanks everyone! I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders (temporarily, anyway).

    Lucy, we are going to Punta Cana in Dominican Republic at the end of March. I can't wait! And we're staying at an all-exclusive so I have to drink enough to make sure we get our money's worth. Stick out tongue
