When LO poos...

If he is sleeping, do you clean it immediately or wait for him to wake up? I feel bad waking him because he just ate. But I also feel bad if he sits in it. Then there is the possibility that it was just gas.

So what do you do?

Our midwife suggested that I feed on one side, change the LO and then feed on the other side. What i've found is that if he is going to dirty himself during feeding he does it at the beginning, then I can know that he can just go to sleep when he's done the other side and doesn't have a dirty diaper.  Otherwise, my midwife said it was okay to let them have a dirty diaper for a while if they are sleeping and not seeming uncomfortable.

For me, it depends on the time. If it is like 1am or something, I change her, so she isn't sitting in it too long. If it is closer to wake up time, like 4 or 5, I may let her sleep until it is time to get up.

Isaac wakes up every hour and half at night so if he passes out from feeding then I will just let him be and change him the next feeding. He screams bloody murder during diaper changes which makes him puke up everything he ate if we do it after a feeding so if he poops during a feeding we leave him.

Thanks!! I don't feel so bad about it, now! I should mention the LO in question doesn't sleep in very long stretches!
