Should I use my stroller or carrier?

This is silly and I'm not sure why I'm having a hard time making a decision. Dylan and I are going to the zoo today with a friend and her two LO's. It's the San Diego zoo so it's pretty big and I can't decide if I should take my lightweight stroller or just put him in my SSC ( which is what I usually do). I don't want him to get fussy in the stroller and end up pushing it and wearing him but the zoo is big and I'm afraid after a few hours I will get tired. So wwyd?

  • I would bring both lol, although I usually end up pushing the stroller around w/ my stuff in it and wearing LO

  • I also vote for bring both. That way if your body gets tired you can use the stroller & when he gets tired in there, you can wear him again. We do this on longish outings. Plus, even if you end up wearing him the whole time, the stroller is a convenient way to push your diaper bag around, hold your jacket (if oen is required in san diego this time of year? if not, i'm so jealous) & carry your drink!

Yeah that's what I will do. Plus it's just a lightweight stroller so it's not huge. Oh and it's gonna be 71 today so no jacket ; )

  • Bring the stroller to tote your things and wear LO. Then if you do get tired you have an option.

*Drooling at 71 degree weather* It's 42 degrees here today & people in Pittsburgh are acting like it's summer wearing flip flops & short sleeves. It does feel like a heat wave though!  But I'm sure it will be short lived.

I was at that zoo when I was 9 years old & I all remember is that I got sun poisoning & that the zoo was ginormous!  (my only basis of comparison was the Pittsburgh zoo.)  Have a great time today!

Bring the stroller in the car - you can always go grab it if you need. Or if you REALLY need, you can rent a stroller. But I agree - the SDZoo is humongous - I wouldn't rely solely upon carrying your LO.

Are you going to go see the new baby hippo? The pix are so freakin cute!

If I was in the back of the zoo it would be a trek to go to my car. I think I will take both. When it's H and I we just wear him but I have someoneto trade off with. I didn't know there was a new hippo there lol.

This is what I did when DD and I did the SD Zoo. I wore her for most of the time, but put her in the stroller when she fell asleep.

  • DS has very little head control so when I wear him it's only in the front.  He also falls asleep when I wear him.  If I wear him in the front he really can't see the animals.  So I always bring the stroller so he can see.  But I wish I could wear him.

  • Even though DD walking on her own or carrying her in the Boba are our go to options we recently took the umbrella stroller to Sea World with us along with the Boba. It lays back pretty flat and I do whatever is needed to avoid changing diapers in public restrooms. So, the stroller made a great portable diaper changing station.

This.  The stroller will keep the diaper bag for you while he's in the carrier; for that big of a day you'll need to alternate.

Let me know how you get on! We have yet to go to the Zoo (!) despite having lived here for 4 years. I keep asking DH if we should go on the weekend but he is not a zoo person. I could practically walk there if it wasn't because we then had to walk around there too and would get too tired to walk home. Oh, and I know I am being pathetic but I actually think it is cold today :-p
