R and I met during B school - we were both getting our MBAs...

We met 3x - I just could never remember him.  I kept saying... "hi, it's nice to meet you".  He'd be like umm, we met already.

DH is in a band...I was a fan...he was playing in a dive bar...I met eyes with him on stage and then made a point to chat with him after the show.  The rest is history!  (okay, not immediate history...he was in a (rocky) relationship at the time and they ended up breaking up (NOT b/c of me...I saw him occasionally at his shows but we did not get together until after they broke up).

He was a regular at the bar I worked at. He came in every weekend and always got drinks from me. One day after about a year, his friend asked me to dance and I said, I much rather dance with him...

The rest is history.

We met in the Auburn University Marching Band.  During band camp.    I was a freshman and DH was a junior.

My step-mom worked for a moving company.

She bid his move to come to Colorado from Austin (where I also used to live).

She's quite the chatty cathy and upon learning that he knew no one out her asked if he'd like my number.  She asked me if it was OK.  I knew he had an ex-wife and child and had ZERO interest in dating him but I also knew all too well how lonely it was to move out here knowing no one so I told her to give it to him.

We talked on the phone for HOURS before he even moved out here.  I kept telling myself I didn't need the ex-wife baggage.  Then I saw his picture and had to remind myself again that I didn't need the ex-wife baggage.  Then I showed his pic to one of my co-workers thinking she might be interested and she laughed saying:  "No way am I touching this guy.  You're TOTALLY into him!"

Invited him to a work happy hour and we both ignored everyone else the whole time.

He kissed me in the parking lot that night and I forgot all about the ex-wife factor.

Then a few months later I met his son and got to know him as a father and I was totally gone. 

Some guys are worth the extra baggage!

Internet in 1999... before it was "the acceptable thing to do" so I got a lot of crap for that. Yahoo personals, it was the only ads out there at the time. I did research on him before I responded to him b/c he volunteered in the same firehouse as a friend of mine did. I got the OK from him so we met out, never looked back.

We met on Match.com in 2003. I had only lived in the area for about 10 months and a friend of mine convinced me that I needed to try online dating. To make her happy I agreed to try it for 1 month. I met a couple of losers in the first 2 weeks. He found me in my 3rd week and we emailed for a couple of months before we actually talked on the phone. Did that for about a week and then we met and went on a date. The rest is history.

Architecture school...but we were just acquaintances.  He got sick, dropped out, and moved back to Pittsburgh.  I moved here on a whim after grad school.  One day my roommate (who I graduated with) ran into my DH at lunch.  They decided to meet up for happy hour that week. 

I joined them...we all started hanging out a lot, he told me he'd had a crush on me back in undergrad...and that maybe he still did...I wasn't interested. 

He was sad, stopped hanging out with us...but one night it ended up just being he and I out at the bar together...and the rest was history.

We met in 4th grade... classic story of BFFs (a la Dawson and Joey - without all the superfluous vocabulary and teen angst).  We dated in HS for over a year and then were on and off for the next 2 years.  We got back together the summer after Freshman year of undergrad and made through 3 years of a long distance relationship. 

It hasn't always been easy, but I wouldn't have it any other way - we are a team.

We met while he was in med school and I was in grad school at the same University. My roomate was a med student so I use to party with them all the time. We had a different groups of friends but we were all aquaintances. Word got out in our 2 groups that we "liked" each other. After the Valentines Day post exam party in 2003 we had our 1st kiss : )

Funny story...I recognized his last name when we 1st met and turns out that his mom and my mom use to work together when I was in grade school.  I actually was at his house 2x when I was a little kid. I remember playing at his house with his brother and sister (he was not there the days I was there).  It was nice when we started dating because I knew that our families would get along. Needless to say our moms were very excited.

I was in grade 5, he was in grade 8.  He was little for his age, super funny, and super cute!  He didn't know I existed obviously.  I fell in love with him:)  I have a diary from that year where I talk about him!  Hahaha, love from afar.

Fast forward to grade eleven.  He was in his first year of college but came home often to work at his parents' store.  He called me to see if I was going to a concert.  My Mom said I couldn't go because there was a huge snow storm that night.  For the first time ever, I went behind her back and went anyway.  My friends were too drunk to come inside the concert so I just hung out with him alllll night at the show.

The rest is history!  That concert was 16 years ago!

Then we started talking and he asked me where I was from... I told him a tiny town on Long Island and it turns out that his mom grew up there!  Totally random!

We met on an online discussion board for law school applicants (the Princeton Review, for anyone who was applying to law school in 2001/2002). After everyone was accepted to law school and no longer posted on topic, we started joking around there with a group of other people and we all became online friends. He posted a pic and I thought he was gorgeous and when the board was "down" one day we started emailing - he always used to joke that he was my internet boyfriend but I assumed it was all just joking.

Before we both started school, I decided to go visit family in NY, knowing that he would be starting law school there, and we could meet. I spent the night at his apartment the day we met in person (completely innocent though, never touched each other) and when I got home I figured that was it, but he called as soon as I got home to my apartment. Then he told one of our other friends from the board that he thought he was in love with me (knowing she'd tell me). We were pretty much a couple from then on, long distance for the first year of law school but he proposed after only 4 months (only having seen each other in person maybe 4 or 5 weekends before that) and we were married a year and a half later.

DH and I met at work.  I was in another relationship at the time and never thought a single thing about DH.  I dumped the loser and started dating other guys.  We started going to trivia night once a week with some other co-workers and friends.  We both developed feelings for each other but didn't really realize or admit it right off the bat.

The kicker was that I was his boss at the time.  He ended up getting a promotion and moved to a different manager.  Two weeks later we shared a kiss and our feelings.  We kept it a secret for a little over a month because we weren't sure where things were heading.  The rest is history!

We still work together and I see him several times throughout the day.

My best friend at the time always latched onto the "new guy" and he was new to our school my freshman year. I'll never forget her saying, "Who's the hot guy in the wheel chair?" Ha!! (He was in a wheel chair due to a golf cart accident)

We both worked at the same company at the time we started dating.  We didn't meet though until a happy hour with some mutual coworkers.  We had a mutual friend that kept trying to set us up, but I kept refusing.  Then we finally met at a bar and we have dated ever since!

The 3rd time I saw him I just waved across the room but had no plans of talkng to him in fear of being rejected again   as I was walking by him on the way to the restroom he stopped me and asked if he could take me out to dinner some time.  On our first date he told me he was moving to Maui, I thought we would just casuallly date until he moved and that would be the end of it.  I ended up helping him move and stayed with him on Maui for 2 months.  After I went back to Seattle he flew out and proposed.  We were married 7 months after we met

He was on the Men's Volleyball team at Michigan State. I was friends with a bunch of the guys and ended up saying I'd be the manager and travel with the team (hmmm 12 guys+1 girl+ free trips=YES please!)

We went to Iowa for our first trip and that first day I sat next to Dan who made fun of me for studying for a Floral Arranging class I was taking. We talked for a long time and hung out the rest of the weekend.

I went home and told my roommates I met the man I was gonna marry. They asked his name - at the time he was called Skinny. (3 Dan's on the team) "Umm Skinny." then they asked for his real name " Ummm I think it's Dan." Asked me what else I knew about him "He has a girlfriend." Next question was for how long. "6 years!" They couldn't believe that I was interested in him. I just somehow knew he was the one for me. They were having issues and we didn't do anything until they broke up 2.5 months later. We had an economics class together the fall of my senior/his junior year in college.   The professor assigned semester-long homework groups by alphabetical order, and since we had/have the same last name, we got paired together!    There was a third guy in our group, but he flaked out, leaving at least 2 hours every week when future-DH and I were alone together.

Kind of embarrasing story...

We met on an online Jewish dating site.  We emailed a few times one day then talked on the phone the next night for several hours.  Met for coffee and the rest is history  

That was in March, we moved in together in June and were engaged in August.

We met on eharmony.  I started online dating about 6 months before I met him at the encouragement of a friend and co-worker at my new job (that brought me to the area).  I had mostly been on yahoo personals, but after several months, I felt like I need to seek out some new options, so I finally signed up for eharmony when they were offering a two-for-one special on their membership rate.  I communicated with several people, but DH was the only guy I actually met off of eharmony. 

DH joined about 6 months before we met as part of his New Year's resolution.  The married couple that were his best friends had recently gotten pregnant, and he knew he wasn't going to be able to spend 3-4 nights a week just hanging out with him like he had been. 

6 weeks after our first date, he told me he was going to "save me from my last name," which was often misspelled and mispronounced.

Through some mutual friends in college.  Our first date was Feb. 1, 1997, but we officially became a couple on Valentines day.  DH started giving me one rose for each year we were together on Valentines - this year I should get 14!

On a bus:)  My friend rented one of those party buses to celebrate passing dental boards.  She invited a bunch of friends and so did her DH.  So there was 50 dental people on the bus I thought he was cute so I started talking to him and his friend was pissed at him because I guess he had told the guys he was going to try to pick me up.  I had no interest in the friend.  We went  on a real date the following week and now it has been almost 6 years that we have been together!

Our first date was after my project was over (good), but I didn't realize he wasn't going to have to write and give me a performance review (not so good). By the time the review happened we were already going out, and it was serious. Can you say "awkward"?

Working on grad student council newspaper. I was picking myself up after a break up and looking for new stuff to do with my time and meeting other people. He was the edito in chief and I thought he was married when I first met him (turned out he was wearing a promise ring from a long distance gf who cheated on him soon after). When I asked him about the ring (I was not into him at the time) he was very curt and all business so I thought he was a douche. Fast-forward a couple months - his gf cheated on him and we became friends at ahead student council retreat. A few more weeks hanging out doing grad student gov stuff, a party where I tried to set him up with a friend, and watching star wars in my room later (I'm not a fan, he is) and we've been attached at the hip for almost 9 years.

We met the year after I graduated college - my crazy roommate at the time was in love with my now DH and they used to hang out often at our apartment. My DH had zero interest in her like that and didn't realize how much she liked him.  She would tell me all the time that she was going to marry him.  Man, this doesn't make me look like a nice person!

I thought he was cute but didn't pursue anything because she liked him.  Fast forward a few months....DH came to hang out with roommate and asked if I wanted to join them to watch a movie.  We ended up chatting the whole night and he asked me out to dinner the next night.  Being the bad roommate I was....I agreed and were pretty much together after that.  Needless to say, when our lease was over in August I moved out and in with DH!

We met online while he was deployed to Afghanistan. We traded emails for 11weeks before our first date. We were engaged six months later!

We met at work. He was promoted and transfered in to my area.  He needed new equipment, etc. and, since I'm the office manager, he had to get his equipment through me.  We struck up a great friendship but that was it.  Neither of us were looking for more.  We'd both recently finalized divorces and we honestly weren't looking for anything else at the time.

Several months after he transfered in he invited me on a motorcycle ride as sort of a thank you for my help.  I accepted thinking it would be a great way to get to know my new friend even better.  In all honesty, neither of us had any other intentions for that ride.  At the end of the ride, I was going to leave and gave him a little hug that turned into a long embrace.  I literally felt like a giddy school girl - I had butterflies in my stomach.  After much discussion, we agreed to try dating as long as it didn't interfere with work or our friendship.  Six months after that we were engaged.  Seven months after our engagement we were married.  And now we're living our happily ever after!
