Waking up b/c my throat is closing!

For the past few nights I've woken up in the middle of the night several times because it literally feels like my throat is closing! I don't know if it's the noise I start making in my throat because I can't breathe or simply because I can't breathe that wakes me up. It's really really scary though! When I sit up for a while it goes away.

I'm not laying on my back at all, always on my side. Is anyone else experiencing this?

  • I'm just having trouble breathing period. I feel like I have shortness of breath or when I breathe in I'm not getting enough oxygen. My dr said it's because my lungs are squashed from the pregnancy.

  • I get this to, like a tightness in my throat and then my whole head. I also feel tightness in my chest, I think it is just LO pressing up on my lungs and making it hard to breath, but I plan on asking my MW about it at my next appointment

The first couple of times this happened to me I thought I was dying.  I've since starting sleeping with more pillows so I'm not quite laying down flat anymore.  That helped. I also got some breathright strips so I can open my nasal passage more.  One more thing, keep a glass/bottle of water by the bed.  Water has helped me as well.
