Ok, I've gotten no responses on choleostasis-how about HELLP? A friend of mine who is an MD said they were probably checking me for HELLP syndrome in addition to the choleostasis. The only test the came back that the midwife said anything about was "elevated liver enzymes". Anyone have any experience with this??
Re: HELLP?
I believe that both disorders can cause elevated liver enzymes. However, I don't think they generally link itching to HELLP syndrome. Some people with HELLP have high blood pressure, while other's don't.
The board is slow on the weekend because we are spending time usually with our significant other's who are off on the weekend.
I was checked for cholestasis when I was pregnant with Peyton. I remember it did take a couple days for the labwork to come back. I had horribly itchy feet & some other symptoms but it was negative. The fact that you are 37 weeks & technically Full term probably means that if your liver enzymes are elevated, no matter the reason they would go ahead and induce you. For HELLP syndrome the only treatment is to deliver the baby & it can progress fast.

I don't know anything about cholestasis but I do know HELLP. Elevated liver enzymes can most definitely be a sign of HELLP but there are a few other req's for it: red blood cells (hemolytic anemia), elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets. HBP can also be a factor of HELLP. The good thing (like PP said), you are already 37 weeks and therefore, FT. It can escalate very quickly but they will induce you, if you have it.

Me. I was told that I had choleostasis after I complained of itching. They took blood and called me in the next day for more blood work. I had an emergency c-section the second day because I also had HELLP.
