has anybody done femera + injects?

I was wondering if anyone has had a better response with femera + low dose injects  than with femera alone? Is this very common or not really?

Re: has anybody done femera + injects?

  • I am on that protocol right now. According to my RE it's much more effective. Hopefully he's right!

  • I haven't done them together, but have done each separately and I had much more success with the injects. So if you are doing both I think you're in good hands! Good luck!

I hope you don't mind my responding.  My pregnancy is a result of a hybrid cycle using Femara and Follistim.  I'm not a great responder so my RE was using a very high dose of Femara (12.5 per day on cd3-8) and with that I only developed one follicle.  The next cycle I took the same amount of Femara but added in 150 of Follistim on cd8-10.  That cycle I had four follicles, two were mature for certain when I triggered and possibly three.  That cycle resulted in this pregnancy.

I really liked the option of not having to do a fully injectable cycle because those are quite expensive.

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • I don't mind at all. In fact, I like success stories b'c they give me hope :) I am reluctant to do all inject cycles b/c of the cost. I am only planning on doing one or two more cycles before moving on to IVF b/c once our insurance deductible is up, we are done. we simply can't afford to go out of pocket.

  • yes it has better response than just femara.  i used it couple of yrs ago.
  • I did that for 2 cycles (2.5mg Femara + low dose Follistim). I had 4 follies w/ Femara alone....and 5 with Femara + Injects.

  • My first 3 IUIs I did just Femara and had 2 follies on my 1st and 3rd IUIs and only 1 follie on my 2nd. This time we did Femara plus Bravelle and although I had 4 follies start to mature, only two made it far enough to be mature so I didn't really see much of a difference (at least not this cycle). Having said that, I only did 3 Bravelle injections (75ius)...I'm not sure if that's the "norm" or if that's being conservative. HTH!
