Does anyone else have to deal with this? We've been pretty open about how I can't seem to keep my babies inside of me past 37 weeks but not about any other issues and complications in pregnancy.
So my H's aunt made a flippant comment about how pretty soon I'd be 39 weeks and dying for my LO to come.
Um, if I made it to 39 weeks, I would do a dance of joy. And then my OB would induce me due to diabetes. lol and grr
Re: casual comments
So far, the most flippant comment I've gotten (and I'm sure others have, too) is, "oh, bed rest! That sounds like HEAVEN!"
I can understand where they're coming from, but 1, it's really not heaven at all and 2, it's not like I'm here on vacation, you know?
And being a chronically polite person, I'm usually stuck for a reply. What am I supposed to say? "You're right. It's fantastic. You should be jealous!"

Better than my MIL asking me on Friday when she came to pick up DD from the hospital if I was doing this all for the attention.

That's terrible.
Unfortunately, a lot of people are not good at showing tact or empathy in situations that they haven't been in themselves or those in which they don't understand.
I got a lot of "but at least you can sleep!" when my baby was in the NICU.
