Regarding the name Devin/Devon...
I always thought the name Devin (spelled with an i) was for a girl, and Devon (with an o) was for a boy. Also, if you see the name Devon, do you pronounce it the same way you'd pronounce Devin, or would you read it as De-VON? (emphasis on "von".)
ETA: DH suggested this name for DS. I am not a fan for either a girl or a boy, just wanted your opinions about the spelling and pronunciation stuff. (part of my reasoning for not wanting to use it)

Same here. And I definitely consider it a boy's name.

I don't mind unisex names (obviously, our daughter will be Cameron), but I've never met a girl named Devin. I actually don't know that I've seen it spelled that way before, to be honest.
If you like it, go for it, but it doesn't hit me personally.
Life with Blog
I don't consider any spelling of Devin a girl name. I've known several Devins (spelled that way) and they were all boys. I met one Devyn (girl) and thought it was awful.
I would still pronounce Devon like Devin.
I'm lurking here, but...
Well, my name is Devon, spelled with an "O", and I am very much a girl.
I can say that when I was little, I hated it. I wanted to be a Christina or a Stephanie (or something equally as common)...but over time, I have grown to love it.
I like the fact it's gender neutral...and it works for me.
However, if you don't like it, it's probably not a good choice.
Not sure why I posted here, but I guess I just felt like I needed to defend the name!! LOL...
ETA: I pronounce it like Devin, and have actually never had anyone mispronounce it.
ETA2: Just seeing my name so many times on the screen in this thread is totally trippy!!
I knew a Devon (boy) in the 4th grade, and a Devyn (girl) in high school though I've never actually met any other Devon/Devin/Devyns... I would pronounce them all exactly the same.
It's exactly my style - I love unisex names, especially on girls, but would be more inclined to spell it with an o for either boy or girl. I find it to be the more classic/automatic way of spelling it. If I were just to hear it spoken I would assume it were spelled with an o regardless of it being a boy or girl with the name, unless I was told otherwise.

Things to avoid during pregnancy: Eye contact with cats. Cats will suck the burgeoning life right out of you, using their infamous feline mind-powers. Avert your eyes, and move along.
FACT: 1 in 10 people are said to be a carrier of Listeria. Therefore you should avoid all shopping malls, grocery stores and busy street corners for the duration of your pregnancy. Or microwave anyone you contact until steaming, just to be safe.
I'm not necessarily against a unisex name... I am however against pronunciations that have to be explained. As a teacher, I always feared saying a student's name wrong. I'd hate to be the kid that had to explain their name all their life.
I have had male and female Devin/Devon's in class. I just think it should be pronounced like it reads
