Montreal questions

Hello - just popping over from the Seattle board.

Any tips for a vacation to Montreal?  We are thinking of coming up for the grand prix in June, but want to also have some fun things to do with our then 18 month old.  (We would drive up from visiting family in Boston)

Any tips on where to stay?  We know prices are crazy, but since we would have a car we don't have to be downtown.  But I think we need to get to a subway to get to the circuit.  Any place outside of downtown that still has reasonable subway access?
