Infertility

First IVF Procedure Questions..

Nervous ~ don't know what to expect.  DH refusing to go to office to provide sample ("haven't they gotten enough samples out of me the past few months?"...."can't risk it" ~ "I'll be there for the FET, etc, but can't I just give it to you to take to the office").

As IF I'm looking forward to another bi-daily..??..relationship with the ultrasound machine.....uuugggghhhh....where's the sanity?

I was told the insurance (thankfully) paid for $5k of the scrip bill, and my portion is $100, of which I should be receiving the Cetrotide & HCG tomorrow (have Follistim already).

So girls ~ what are the procedures for IVF ~ and how different from IUI is it (apart from the fabulous anesthesia they put you under for retrieval and the drugs they use for the transfer you have talked about..!!..) .  Are they really painful (you can tell me the truth - it's ok!).

TIA

Re: First IVF Procedure Questions..

  • The procedure itself is pretty quick and painless. The days of stimming can be a bit uncomfortable at most because you get so bloated. The day of the retrieval you will be under mild sedation.....i actually felt relief from the minute i woke up.....they will take a sample from DH as soon as you go in (before your procedure) and depending on your fert report you can have anywhere from a 3-6 day transfer......this part is amazing! you are awake, and you actually watch them put it in you, you can see the little guys on the monitor above. I really hope your husband comes around to this, its so important to be there for each other and support each other in every way because this was by far the most difficult thing emotionally and physically that we ever went through. My husband viewed the sample is painless and nothing to talk about compared to what i had to go through......he also read a book about everything so he would know exactly what was going on and when (the couple's guide to IVF) afterwards there is no pain......hopefully you will experience some pg symptoms and that pretty much it. Its over and done within a few weeks.?

    ?

While you are stimming you will have several bloodtests and internal ultrasounds which are merely seconds of discomfort, but this will be the worst of it.

    Best of luck to you?

  • the pp gave you some good info. definitely take it one day at a time. I keep a calendar where I write down all my dosages and appts, and every night I cross off that day so I can feel one step closer to my goal. I was definitely uncomfortable and bloated during stims, and crampy after ER and basically crampy for the whole 2ww. You'll definitely need your husband there, because he gives his sample on the day of the ER (so they can get those eggs fertilized right away), and if you get anesthesia at the ER you can't drive yourself home.

The books A Couple's Guide to IVF and IVF: The ART of Making Babies both have a lot of information in them.

    good luck!

  • PLEASE do not respond to this post. This person is a troll and has posted this on other boards under other names. This is the same person that has made fun of one of nesties miscarriages. I feel so dumb for taking the time to write something on such a sensitive subject when "this" isnt even real. You can see her duplicate garbage posted on the N NJ boards.?

You are completely off base, and incorrect.

I thank you for your information, but please keep your attacks to yourself.

I do not ned the additional angst.

    Thank you again.

  • Why would you feel the need to post under different names? Your ghjunkie "personality" has already posted about having several IVF procedures done, in which case you would already know what would happen with any future ones. Again, this is NOT ?subject to be toying with. The girls on this board are heroes, going through this journey every day and keeping as sane as they can. This is a board to help each other out and support one another.......not for nonsense drama that gets you attention. No one here needs the additional angst of someone "pretending" to be going through what they are.?

Again, I have NO IDEA what you are talking about.  I have NEVER done IVF.  Why would I possibly have any reason to pretend I didn't if I did?  And who the heck are you to attack me for NO REASON?  Have I ever done anything to you or yours??  My God, I don't even know who the heck you are, but you come on here and at first offer info, then come back and attack me?  I thought my hormones were off, but woooaaahhh, nelly.  Pull back the coach and attack someone who deserves it.  I REALLY DON"T NEED THE ANGST.  the meds are bad enough.

If you have nothing nice to say, just leave me alone ~ do us both a favor.

Nervous ~ and I don't know what to expect.  I've been through too many IUI's (over 10), and i's not as IF I'm looking forward to another bi-daily..??..relationship with the ultrasound machine.....uuugggghhhh....where's the sanity?  I was told the insurance (thankfully) paid for $5k of the scrip bill, and my portion is $100, of which I should be receiving the Cetrotide & HCG today (have Follistim already).

I've also been told I need to get an EKG?  Is that normal?

    TIA

Um, yeah - the last time I checked - this is the SAME post - different "poster"

Do NOT answer any posts from either of these posters.

She claims that the PP is crazy, obviously not.  And if she ("ghjunkie", "ecopledge") is not crazy, why would she post the same exact post under 2 different name?
