What to do with frozen colostrum?

I have 12 oz of frozen colostrum in my freezer from our first week home, when I was so engorged I pumped for relief. Should I toss it, feed it, mix it with milk and feed it, or what? I have heard of saving it for when the baby is sick, but I've also heard it has a heavy laxative effect and it won't be pleasant if I feed it to him.

It's so hard to think about throwing out BM!

  • Are you sure it's colostrum? I don't think my body made 12oz of colostrum total.

  • i asked this to my pedi, she said just feed it, there is no point in saving it for when they are sick due to it being frozen i didnt notice any poop issues.

  • I didn't know you could get engorged with colostrum. I thought when you got engorged it was your actual milk. ???

  • Are you sure it was colostrum if you were engorged? I didn't think you could become engorged because of colostrum, just when your milk came in.
