T&Ps needed for DS1

I am a mess right now. Ds shattered his front tooth earlier today while playing at McDonalds with DH. They have to extract the whole thing. I went from desperately trying to go into labor to desperately trying to NOT go into labor.

  • Aw! Poor little guy!

Just prayed for him, and will definitely be thinking about him till you give an update.

  • My DH did this when he was little as well, and talks about it sometimes. I know it can be scary for a little boy so give him lots of love! T&P coming his way for sure!
  • Awww, poor little guy!  When my niece was about 18 months she fell into a bar stool in her kitchen and knocked out 4 of her front teeth.  She won't have front teeth until her permanent teeth come in!  She has the cutest little toothless grin.  Hope your DS has a quick recovery!

  • Well wishes coming your way!
  • Thank you so much ladies. We are home now and resting. DS was a trooper. They didn't have to sedate him. He got a shot to numb it and they pulled out what was left of his front tooth (3-4 pieces). He came home and started playing as if nothing ever happened!

DH was my rock. He went in with DS because I was a sobbing mess and the dental clinic told me to stay out (they were very sweet about it). I feel like a terrible mom because I couldn't pull myself together! I'd like to think that being pregnant and 9 days past my due date have something to do with it...

Still hoping not to go into labor today because that would be a little too much to deal with and I don't know how DS is going to feel once the shot wears off.

  • What a trooper! I hope he doesn't experience any pain once the shot wears off. I don't think I could handle being in the room with any of my children in a situation like that UNpregnant! I can't blame you for being in the waiting room crying, I'd be right next to you.

I guess no acidic foods for your DS for a while then, huh?

They didn't mention anything about no acidic foods. Do you know why? Should we call them back? They just said to give him tylenol and stick with soft foods for a few days. And to watch for swelling on the gum line and discoloration of the other teeth.

I would have been the SAME way! I'm glad he's playing as if nothing happened and I hope you are feeling more at ease now. Rough day!!!!

  • I'm so glad he did well! I just saw this post. I can not imagine going through this as a mom!! I would have been sobbing as well.

I would assume she meant just because it might hurt him/sting when he ate those foods. You could always put the pieces under his pillow and do the tooth fairy thing a little early to make him feel better! Also, I know when I lost a tooth and it was bleeding my mom would put a little sugar on it and tell me it numbed it. I am sure it didn't but it was sweet and made me feel better, just an idea for when the shot wears off.
