nbr: allergic to med?

ive been taking macromid for UTI...ive never taken it before. i started it yesterday morning and by the afternoon i was nauseus, my heart was racing, headache, dizzy, fatigued and my stomach was upset. it went away by about 8 but i was due for the pill again (and i took it) and everything started again and i didnt fall asleep until 1am. Repeat today and it feels worse than yesterday! Does it sound like an allergic reaction (im not having troubles breathing)?

Re: nbr: allergic to med?

  • Here's some info about the drug.  If it were me, I would call the doc and let them know what's going on.  There are plenty of other meds they can give you for a UTI.  I would ask to try something different.  Hope you feel better soon!

  • I'm allergic to Macrobid. My reaction was a horrible rash. I would definitely stop taking it and get a different med from your doctor!

  • I'm being treated for a UTI right now and I'm on Keflex.  Bactrim and Cipro are also often used for UTI's, so there are definitely other options.

This. If not allergic, then it sounds like you definitely have some sort of sensitivity to it.

    GL! and get better soon!
  • Im super late in posting. Sorry, definitely bad side effects. Not an allergy. If you are BFing or pumping your options are kind of limited. Amoxil will work just fine-UTI's are pretty easy to treat esp if you dont get them often. I hope you are feeling better soon!!!!
