if you don't mind me asking. I toured one this afternoon and was floored. They charge $190/wk for the twins, $145/wk for DS1. No sibling discounts. That's 5 days/week from 6-6. Thoughts? Is that high, low, normal?
Thats low compared to what I pay. I live just north of Boston and I pay $283/wk for older DD, and the twins were each going to be $325/wk. But they ended up giving us more than the sibling discount and were going to only charge us for 4 days when we would send them 5. It was going to cost us $775 with the discount, without the discount it would be $933 a week. It's also only from 8:30-5pm...
At a center? That is low for my area. That is $1340 a month. I pay $1680 a month for in home. A center would have cost me around $2200 a month around here.
Our in-home daycare is $250/week/child, but they give us a sibling discount for having twins, so it's $225/week/child. I think this is VERY inexpensive for our area.
$190 each? That's about what I was quoted for centers around here.
I pay $235/week total at an in-home for 5 full days. Centers were too expensives, and I lucked out that this in-home lady was the cheapest AND one of the few with 2 infant openings.
I will add that it's a very "laid back" operation though. I get what I pay for. My kids are safe and taken care of, but she doesn't do the amenities of a center. There's no sheet of when everyone ate/slept/pooped. And while I'm not there during the day, I don't get the sense there's much structure or activities for the older kids. It's pretty much always play time.
Everyone is happy and clean, but I plan to look into centers again when they reach one and aren't infant prices anymore.

we pay $2k/mo for all 3 to go part time... the twins only go 2 days/week and Griffin goes 3 days/week.
it is on the lower end of high for this area -- meaning, there are some centers that cost more, and i could find something cheaper, too, or go a lot cheaper in-home (which i won't do).... but we love the place we are at and would rather pay more and feel good about our daycare.
I should add that we looked for day cares for when the babies turn 18 months. Most run upwards of $2400/month. And those are the ones that aren't skanky We didn't look at any in-homes yet.
It all depends on the area, but to me, that sounds like a great deal. I think we currently pay $215/week for each DD, but have a $25 sibling discount so it's $1610/month total. I believe our center is open from 7:30 until 6.

Holy cow! I got major sticker shock and can't believe that's an ok, or good deal!
We're in a very LCOL area. $160k got us 2120 sqft, 3bed 2.5 bath with a bonus room that had the option to be converted into a bedroom during build (about 2/3 the price or 1/2 price of living in St. Louis).
Wow. I feel lucky. I am just outside of Nashville and DH and I about died when we started quoting daycares. There are 3 near us and for both of the girls to go was $1500 a month. (that is with the twin discount, and even us being members of our church discount). I honestly could not even cry or worry over daycare because who has an extra $1500 a month to pay for daycare. Thankfully DH has a good job that has allowed him to work afternoons. So we still have 2 incomes and insurance. We dont see each other much during the week but go to bed together every night and have weekends together.
We live in the city and to send our girls to DC 2 x's a week from 9-2pm is $450 per month. It's through a local church (Mother's Day Out program) and it's considered a really good deal for this area.
I just started working on occasion (I'm sub teaching) so on the days I get called in, the girls go a full day (7am up to 6 pm), it's $30/day per child.
If they were to go full-time, they charge $1400 for both (5 days, 7-6pm). that's with the 10% discount for twins or additional siblings.
I pay $500/wk for all 3, which is pretty comparable to what you're looking at. Cost of living in your area also helps dictate costs, so you may need to compare that to others in your area to get a better feel.

In my area, the average for care at a center is about $320 per week per baby. The average for care at an in-home is about $225 per week per baby, but some do get lucky and find cheaper than that. (Cheapest I've ever heard of was $140 per week per baby at an in-home, but that was only available to teachers and I'm not a teacher. And anyway she couldn't have taken two babies at once.)

The cheapest center I found was $95/day for twins and that included a multiples discount. We have a nanny coming in (family member) and we're going to be paying her $250/week plus whatever we owe in taxes. I have to get that figured out.
That is relatively low compared to what I've seen. We will have a nanny for $15/hour which is low for our area (outside of Boston). We were quoted about $400+/wk for 2 days for twins at a couple daycare centers.
Thats a great price! Especially for the denver area I'd imagine. Im in a smaller city and the cost for us for daycare for the twins will range $1100-$1400 depending. We are pretty sure we are going with an in home nanny to help reduce the cost
That is low compared to where we are...most of the daycares we are looking at run 250 per baby/week with a 5% discount at some places for multiples and a 10% off the second baby at other places. Our daycare costs for 3 days/week will be more than our mortgage

OMG I can't believe these prices! We pay $750 per week (over $3k a month) for our two to go to a daycare center (FT). I had no idea how high that was relative to other areas!

For 3.5 days of care at a center, we will be paying $1600/month.
My mom is watching them the other day of the week for free. Then I will take a half day every week. HTH!
