So as long as the boys don't have rsv the pedi still plans on giving them their shots. I'm gonna be in for a rough day. Do u give ur little ones anything before shots? Should I do infant Tylenol? Mark just picked up infant advil and of course he didn't see it was for 6 mos and up. Ugh... What to give them? Or am I not supposed to be giving them anything?

Re: 2 mo shots- can I give them something?
We always gave infant tylenol before shots as a precaution for DD#1. She had febrile seizures if her fever ever went above 102, so we administered it to be on the safe side in case of a reaction.
We plan to do the same for the girls.
Katie: 1/16/08 2lbs. 15oz.
Abby & Emily: 12/31/10 6lbs. 2oz. & 5lbs. 7oz.

I'd wait and see how your boys do. Mine haven't really been bothered by their vaccinations at all. We had 4 month shots on Wednesday and Nathan actually stopped crying when he got his needles. Weird kid ... They were both happy and napped/slept fine that day and night.
Agree with PP's though -- the safest way to give Tylenol or Advil to children is by weight. Ask your doc and good luck!
recent studies have shown that giving tylenol before shots can make them less effective... so i would not give them anything unless later they start to have a fever -- otherwise, we don't give anything. Our pedi agrees with this b/c of the new data.
To save you a trip to the store (if you are thinking about running out to the store to get infant tylenol before your appointment), you may want to tell your pedi that all you have is infant advil and see if they may have a sample that they can give you of infant tylenol that you can give your boys after they administer the shots. My boys 2 month shots were at the same time as that huge tylenol recall so everywhere was completely sold out of generic tylenol - we literally went all over and could not find any anywhere. All we could find was the infant ibuprofen (which as you said, turns out is not for infants under 6 months). When we explained this at our appointment, the nurse went and got a bottle of infant tylenol and gave it to us, I'm sure your pediatrician probably has some too - I think they are always getting samples of everything.
Our pedi doesn't ever want us to give tylenol before shots because they have to make sure they don't have a fever before they administer the shots. We *have*, however, given them a sugar water solution (similar to the Sweeties they use in the hospital) before their shots. They both do MUCH better with shots when they've had the sugar water (we forgot it once and it was much worse than usual). I'll see if I can dig up the info on sugar water for you.
ETA: We use two packets of sugar to one ounce of water, and put it on their tongues with a tylenol dropper (two dropperfuls per baby about 5 minutes before the shots). We got the ratio on a pedi's website, which I'm looking for now.
