Diaper Post

What brand diapers do you use?  What brands have you tried and would advise to stay away from?  For what reason?

I'm leaning towards Pampers and I know I can't make a "final" decision until I try a few out on the baby but they're so expensive and I'm wondering if maybe doing a store brand (Costco, Target, Kroger) would work just as well as name brand.  We received a ton of Pampers Newborn and then a mix of Huggies & Pampers for the remaining sizes.  So we'll use those but I need some more newborn sizes for this baby.

Re: Diaper Post

  • We use pampers, but are switching to cloth when we get back from our trip. /if you get coupons and such, they're really not that expensive. You can get a big box sent to you for like $20 from Amazon if you use the right combination of codes and promos.

  • I used Swaddlers until he was out of those sizes (I think size 2).  Since then I've been using Target. For me it's more of the "feeling". I don't like the plastic feeling of the Huggies & Kirkland.  To me the Target brand feels more like Pampers.  I use Pampers Overnight Diapers now, but I didn't start those until DS was a little older.  Plus, I think boys leak out of their diapers at night more often than girls.

  • We use Pampers, but I have used Huggies, Up&Up, and Kirkland.  I love Pampers the best and always buy them.  If you do the Subscribe & Save program with Amazon and sign up for Amazon Moms you get a really good deal on them.  Plus, if you get Parent's Magazine (I got my subscription for $5) you get 20% off Diapers from Amazon coupons like every other month.  I have never paid more than $0.10/diaper, which is a great price.

  • We use pampers.  We got a good mix of pampers and huggies when Lucas was born from visitors and stuff but we liked pampers the best.  Huggies seem to stink to me.  It might sound weird but it was the biggest reason to just go with pampers.  And I always pick them up onsale/coupons.  BRU has the buy 9 get the tenth free too so that helps sometimes.

This. DS got a horrible rash from DryMax. Also, Target dipes are cheap and he rarely has blowouts/leaks.

  • I only used pampers for the first month or so and it was because we actually had a friend that worked at the hospital and I bought a case for super cheap. (You no longer can do that which SUCKS) after that we switch to Huggies and Target brand and to be honest we have never had a leak or blow out.  Diapers are really the most expensive and I can't justify spending double on a case of pampers for what I would spend on a case of Target brand ones and they work just the same to me.  I have used Luvs too but they just recently changed their product and I am not a huge fan anymore, their sizes have changed and we have had a few blowouts with this last box we got. Thankfully we only have a few more left. I have also tried the Costco Brand and we had a lot of blow outs with those.

  • We use Pampers.  I have tried other brands, but I really don't like them as much.  I have Nathan in the Swaddlers sensative right now because he didn't do too well with Dry Max.

If you're going with a name brand, make sure to check out Amazon Mom.  Even without the Parenting coupon, it's still an awesome deal. Plus how can you not love that it's delivered to your door.  It saves me a trip to Target.  I'm sure that's saved me money too because then I'm not tempted to buy other things, because really, who can walk out of Target with just 1 item :)

  • We used Pampers for the first year, probably. I loved, loved the Swaddlers at the beginning.

After a year, I started to use coupons and would buy whatever was on sale. As long as my DD didn't get a rash and the diaper didn't leak, the brand didn't matter to me.

I do like Target brand a lot.

  • I used a little of everything w/DD, Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, CVS brand......first just make sure they aren't allergic to them, my mom found out the hard way w/me, I was allergic to Pampers I believe.

With DS I used the Pampers Swaddlers only for his newborn days since they had the part where the umbilical cord is not covered, and then we tried the Target brand & love them!  We even used the Target brand pull-ups for DD.  I buy the big Club pack box.  We use Huggies Nighttime diapers for DD, they don't leak.

For wipes we use Cosco brand that our IL's get for us.

  • We used pampers sensitive, those are the ones hospital used and they're the only ones i found that have a wetness indicator, which was super helpful in the beginning.

Don't buy anymore newborn,we went straight to size 1.  See how big the baby is first, use up those you got as presents and see if size 1 fit.  Size 1 i think starts at 8lb and my LO was 7.3 and it fit fine.

  • for ds1 i use targets up & up.  and i love them.   i was using them on ds2 for a while but they dont fit him right.  so i've had to switch to huggies little snugglers.  so far they work great on him.  im hoping as he gets older i can go back to the target ones on him.

This exactly.  If you already got a ton of NB diapers, I wouldn't buy anymore.  I think we only used NB size for a week or two because that was what we had been given.  We went right to size one after that without issue.

We use Pampers.  I found Huggies and Up & Up left DD's skin feeling damp still.  The only issue now, is that she is in size three and swaddlers are not made that big.  So, we use Pampers Cruisers now.  They are like scented or something and I'm not a huge fan.  Now that she has been in them for a couple weeks, I don't notice the smell anymore but it almost caused me to find another brand.

You will love the subscribe and save program on Amazon Mom too.  I just bought Pampers wipes from there (beewitched graciously sent me a link on FB) and they were $11.20 for 720 wipes!  We have been using Kirkland brand wipes.  The deal on Amazon came out to like 0.015 cents per wipe and Kirkland are like 0.02 cents per wipe.  Obviously no big deal, but if its delivered to my door, I'm in!

  • When he was a NB and Size 1, we used a mix of Pampers or Huggies, but now we use nothing but Huggies.  Once he started sleeping through the night, the Pampers Dry Max are the only diapers that didn't leak overnight.
  • we used pampers in the begining.  i think their swaddler brand.  loved them.  huggies & target brand did not fit well.  then my friend gave me her left over huggies size 2 diapers.  we ended switching since they seemed to fit DS better than the pampers.  we ended up using pampers in germany when we went over thanksgiving and really like them again.  so we are now thinking about switching back to pampers
