I'm going in on February 24th. What do I expect at a first visit? I was a bit overwhelmed, so I missed a lot of what she said. I remember that there'd be a vaginal ultrasound, but not much else.
I know that they're already checking with my insurance to see what is and isn't covered. From what my insurance told me last night, all oral meds are covered. Injectibles are covered with pre-auth. Everything else, since infertility treatment is not specifically excluded on my plan, is covered at the normal rates with pre-auth. Granted, the girl on the phone didn't sound the most confident, so it will be interesting to see what they say to my insurance company. I hope this really is the case, since I have low copays and no coinsurance.
As much as I've been wanting to see an RE, I have to admit I'm terrified. I know that this is going to (hopefully) get me closer to my take-home baby, but I can't help but feel like I've stepped into a pro basketball game when I can't even catch a ball. Am I making any sense?

Oh good luck! It is a scary step but hopefully soon it will lead to your take home baby. At my first appointment the dr. went over my and dh's history, did blood work, and an u/s.
I do have a funny story about a friend of my SIL's- they were sitting and talking with the RE and he asked him for a sample- told him there were cups in the bathroom so he produced a semen sample, he hands it to the doctor and the doctor says "what's this?" He says "a sample". The doctor says "I wanted a urine sample". Then he needed a pen to sign something and the doctor told him he could keep the pen!
Makes me laugh every time I picture it. So when your sitting there scared in the office, I hope this makes you smile!

Lmao, I am going to remember this! And remind my DH to ask what kind of sample will be needed, lol.

Mine did bloodwork - AMH, karyotyping - and a SA and sperm DNA fragmentation testing on DH. He also always gives you a visit with LaWanda to get the lay of the land at the first visit. Other than that, lots of talking. then lots more talking at the follow-up to go over the test results.
You may want to consult with your insurance and ask if testing is covered.
