Floor bed? Sidecar? Lurker needs some help

I'm hoping you ladies will be able to help me. DD is 8 months old, and up until 2 weeks ago slept in our room. Her sleeping had gotten worse, so I thought maybe we were waking her up and we moved her to her room. Our bedtime routine is identical, except once she is sleeping I walk the 10 steps down the hall to her room to put her in her crib (same crib that was in our room). She will go down in her room, but is waking up anywhere from 3-4 hours after she goes to sleep and will not stay in her crib by herself at that point. I bring her to bed with us (which isn't an issue for us in and of itself), but it's taking a physical toll on me as the position I sleep in when she is with us isn't the most comfortable. I'm left with a choice - get up with her 5-10 times a night, get her back to sleep and put her in her crib (lather, rinse, repeat) or have her in our bed and get no sleep.

Cry it out is not an option for us, and that seems to be the only advice I get from parents I know IRL. I'm debating between a floor bed in her room (so I can go in there and sleep with her and we all have more room), and sidecarring her crib to our bed. Floor bed in our room isn't really an option with DH, and I'm trying to be understanding to his needs as well. Does anyone have any pros/cons to either solution? Am I missing an option I just can't think of? I appreciate any thoughts - I'm so very tired, and have got to find a sleeping solution that will work. Thanks for reading my loooong post!

  • i could have written this. we've started a floor bed in ds' room. he still comes to bed with us after a few hours and is not really waking much less. but that doesn't mean your LO wouldn't!

  • We did a floor bed around 1 year.  DS sleeps better there than he ever did in a crib.  But it's still not great :)
