2nd time mamas please come in

Hello Ladies-

I am was just curious at what point in your second pregnancy did you #1 start showing and #2 have to wear maternity pants?

I am only 4 and a half weeks and my jeans are already tight.  That can't be right can it?  I know its only bloat, but it seems way to soon to be thinking about maternity pants.

I am almost out of my regular bras as well.  This is all happening really, really fast.

Is it just me?!?

  • I know "they" say you show earlier with your second pregnancy but I was the exact opposite. I didn't start showing until about 20ish weeks and wasn't in maternity clothes until that time.

  • I felt like I needed maternity pants, the second time around, before I even POAS.  Stick out tongue

  • I was uncomfortable in regular pants by 10ish weeks.

  • I was definitely showing much sooner this time around.  With #1 I know I was still wearing regular pants up until about 20 weeks, with #2 I was wearing maternity pants (with a beband thing) at 14 weeks.  I could have held out longer but it was just much more comfortable .
  • Ihad bloat bad with #2. I was in Maternity pants by 10-12 weeks... maybe I didn't need them then, but they were a heck of alot more comfortable!

    Sooo excited for you!

Yup... I could have done the belly band stuff, but seriously a fold over waist band was like HEAVEN!  :)  Just don't fight it.  Embrace the maternity clothing... oh and this time around new maternity pants are so much better than when I was pg with Eli... and it's only been 4 years!

  • I was definitely showing earlier the 2nd time around! I wasn't as fit or as thin, but I still couldn't believe the difference. So excited for you Beth and love the new siggy!

  • I definitely had more of the bloat the 2nd time around, and I was in maternity pants around 12-14 wks. I had to tell my students at 13 wks. this time instead of 19 wks. when PG with DD #1. My normal clothes became more uncomfortable earlier on for sure.

  • My body gives in to the pregnancy hormones earlier with each pregnancy.  Everything starts getting uncomfortable so mat-wear is more comfortable KWIM?

  • Wow! I am REALLY behind on my bump news! Congratulations, Beth! That is so wonderful! As for the pants, yes...I definitely wore them sooner with Charlotte. There's no shame in sporting a cute pair of stretchy waisted maternity pants when you need to! (And I'm with Tricia, pregnancy is not a requirement for them! Lol)

  • I'm 10 weeks and starting to feel uncomfortable in my regular clothes and have busted out a pair of maternity jeans :)  Everything still fits, I just feel bloated and like they are uncomfortable.  I don't want to wear anything but yoga pants, lol.

  • I feel like EVERYTHING has happened so much sooner with this pregnancy than with my first. I was so bloated early this time...in maternity pants around 8 weeks!  The girls on top have gotten much bigger this time too. I'm having to wear my nursing bras that I got 2 weeks after having C. I also started getting heartburn earlier, peeing a ton earlier, and not being able to sleep well.  So even though it's not fun, I think what you are experiencing is normal.

  • I was in maternity clothes by 8 weeks. It was just bloat, but the bloat never went away. ha!

I say if you are comfortable in maternity pants - than go ahead and rock them! Why be miserable?

Oh and I'm not sure if I even told you CONGRATS!! I can't remember much these days. Ha!

  • It crazy how muscle memory works in a negative way when it comes to pregnancy. It knows it's supposed to grow, and you just seem to let it out a lot sooner. I remember feeling so bloated and tight pants at 6 or 7 weeks.  I was showing a little pudge around 14 weeks and was wearing maternity pants around 17 weeks I think this time.  It isn't fun feeling big earlier, but at least it's a good reason to feel fat:)
