What would be your dream 3 row SUV/Crossover? If money was no object...
Just looking for ideas...DH wants to ditch his car because it stinks in the snow. We don't need three rows now but we're probably going to TTC next year so we'll be shopping for a three-rower next fall. We have a Mazda Tribute now and like it a lot - that'll be his car and the new one will be the Mom/Family car.
Oh - and I'm not anti-minivan or anything...but I want something with more storage in the back than a minivan has.
Any thoughts? Thanks!
Re: 3 row SUV/Crossover
The GMC Acadia. I remember seeing it on their website before they were even available at the dealerships and loved it. Seriously, I can't find one complaint (other than it's out of my budget right now). It also doesn't hurt that one of our favorite vacation spots is Acadia National Park.
Someday.....someday
My lease is up on the Hummer in a couple of weeks and a third row is a MUST (which we discovered since having LO) considering that we'll eventually have 3 full size carseats at once and we have 3 labs so any type of travel is crammmmed. I was always looking at the Escalade ESV which is the long one until I just realized that the regular Escalade has a 3rd row seat too. It's a little smaller as far as "trunk" area but a lot more room than the Hummer so that's what we're getting, actually probably this weeked. I'll be SOO glad to have some room for once!
Momma Maven In The Making!
I have a Honda Pilot and LOVE it. I don't have a single complaint about it.
One thing to consider: If you are wanting ACCESS to the third row, plan that while you're looking so that you will be able to arrange car seats accordingly. We wanted to access the 3rd row of our Pilot after DD arrived, but the only place her car seat would fit was behind the passenger (on the "40" side of the 60/40 split). DS was in the center, which was part of the "60" split. In order for us to get both kids on the "60" side of the split was to buy a new seat for DD. The Chicco KeyFit30 is pretty much the smallest-footprint for an infant seat, and it's pretty narrow so it fit there, shared with the Britax Roundabout for DS. So with the infant seat behind the driver and the convertible seat in the center, we are able to use the "40" side to access the 3rd row when we need to carry more passengers.
If it matters, both our kids are rear-facing, and when DS turns forward his seat will stay in the center where it's safest. To keep him RF and have both of them RF (obviously the infant seat rear faces) AND put them both on the "60" part of the split, we had to get the smaller infant seat. That may be something to consider when shopping for vehicles (or car seats, for that matter). Think: Where will you want to position kids in the car, and will that allow you to access the 3rd row?
We just got a Suburban and we LOVE it
I will never go back.
We knew we wanted 3 kids, so we needed a 3rd row, with captain's seats in the 2nd row and trunk space for the double stroller and all the trips we take to my IL's (who live 3 hours away....).
We loved the Acadia, Enclave, etc........BUT......when you use the 3rd row there is next to nothing for storage space. We were kind of surprised by this. We assumed there was still a good amount of storage space and that isn't the case.
With the Suburban, when you use the 3rd row, there is more than enough space!
I love the way it drives and it feels extremely roomy
My friend has the Tahoe XL (made on the same platform as the Suburban) and her car is awesome too. She has 3 boys and they have tons of storage space with their 3rd row.
Another friend has the Escalade, but she only has 2 kids (they are done....), so she just has the "regular" Escalade. Again, she has a 3rd row, but if she usese it she basically loses her trunk space. So, you would want the Escalade XL as well.
