Anyone else - 3rd pregnancy and its twins?

I have an almost 4 yo and 2 yo and pregnant with twins.

Anyone else out there have twins during their 3rd pregnancy?

Feeling a little overwhelmed. First 2 pregnancies were with Clomid. This one is spontaneous.

Would love any advice...

  • At first I thought you meant that this was your third twin pregnancy.  I was about to faint on your behalf.

  • Yes, me :). There are a handful of other moms on here in the same boat, too. It was a little overwhelming to think about going from 2 to 4 kids, and if I have to be honest, the first year was pretty hard. But, my oldest had just turned 3 when my twins were born, and my second was 20 months. So, you may have it easier since yours are a little older. It's gotten a LOT better this past year.

My biggest piece of advice for you at this stage is to take it easy as much as you can. I ended up doing a little too much with my girls, and was put on modified bedrest at 31 weeks. With all of the complications that can result from a twin pregnancy, this was not the worst thing that could happen. I got a little help from family and made it to my induction date at 38 weeks. But, it's easy to fleet caught up in everything your little ones need and forget about resting for the babies you're pregnant with :)

Lots of luck to you. Let me know if you have any questions about life with four little ones!

Oh, and I did BF my twins for 18 months, so don't rule that put just because you think it might be rough with two kids underfoot. In a lot of ways, having two older ones made things easier. They entertained themselves whenever I needed to BF or tend to the twins.

  • Yes!

This is my third pregnancy- and its twins!  My older boys will be 6 and 4 right before the babies come! I laughed at my husband as soon as we found out there were two, I said "this pregnancy just got REALLY expensive REALLY fast!" (we have to buy a totally new vehicle because 2 kids and a baby would have fit, but not 2 kids and 2 babies!!!1

  • I am also with you on going from 2 to 4 children! My oldest daughter just turned 5 in January and my second daughter is 2 (3 on April 15).  I'm due May 15 with identical boys! My DH is very excited to have two of each.  HOwever, we are very scared to go from 2 to 4.  I will continue to also work full-time which is another concern, but we have free child care with my family members.  Luckily, we also got a new vehicle in Sept. 2010 that will fit everyone with no problem! GL...and you are not alone!!

  • Well, my 5th pregnancy was twins does that count? ;)

  • Me too!  :-)  Very similar to a PP except mine are all boys.  I have an almost 3 year old and a 14 month old and we are expecting twins in May.  It is a little overwhelming, but I just look at what great pals my first two are and I get so excited for them to have two more brothers.  I think the hardest part so far has been listening to my body and TAKING IT EASY when I feel tired.  For me, this has meant not being a neat freak when it comes to my house and really trying to devote the energy that I have to my toddlers.  Good luck and a happy nine months to you!
  • Thank you for all the responses! Happy to know I am not alone!

I know everything will be fine...just a lot to think about!

    Hugs to all!

  • Me! My twins are one today! We survived the first year! My oldest was almost 3.5 and my second was 19 months when the twins were born. Its  been a hard year- an exhausting year but its so much fun and thrilling to see the four of them so close to each other. Rest- when other people offer to help- let them! You cannot do it all. Other people can help take care of your older two but you are the only person who can take care of those twins right now. Enjoy!
