Has a movie ever really disturbed you?

DH and I had a mini-date night last night.  We went out to eat and picked out a movie at the Redbox when we picked up some groceries.  The movie I wanted wasn't out yet, so we chosen "Frozen" instead.  It looked interesting.

Afterward, I wanted to throw up.

Without giving away too much, the suspense and the type of "gore" was not at all what I expected.  Anyway, I have never been so disturbed by a movie before! I stayed up later just to watch some "Friends" and read a magazine to clear my mind.  DH gave me crap about it but I told him he was missing something (a heart, some feelings, etc.).

The silliest thing is that it's just a movie!  But the suspense and "what would you do" thinking did me in I think, lol.

Ever have a movie do that do you?  So I can steer clear of it?  Wink

I actually went to high school with the director of Frozen, Adam Green....I have never seen the movie, because I am so easily scared, and hate the feeling.

"Pet Cemetary" and "It" were so disturbing. I still can't get the vision of that women with scoliosis from "Pet Cemetary" out of my mind.

Also "The Happening" when something is going around the world that makes everyone want to spontaneously kill themselves.  I also have a horrible time with any movies about prisons.  I am terrified of prisons, mental hospitals, etc.  I know, I'm a huge wuss.

  • Hi all, I'm a SAHM for 7 months until the new school year starts. I've watched some pretty disturbing movies over the years but one tops them ALL: Mockingbird don't sing. It's based on the true story of a girl who was locked in her room for 13 years since she was one year old. Heart-wrenching doesn't even come close to the horrors this girl went through. I couldn't get the images out of my mind for weeks, especially since I have an 18 month old and couldn't imagine someone so heartless and psycho to do that to a baby.

  • The Clockwork Orange actually gave me nightmares....crazy movie...the thought of it freaks me out
  • UMM ME TOO. The part where the guy jumped off the ski lift. I pretty much freaked out and had the image in my head for like 2-3 days every time I'd close my eyes. It was awful!

Oops, that was in response to the movie "Frozen".

  • Yeah Frozen was pretty messed up. I've seen a lot of movies and I think the one that I really found disturbing was Antichrist with Willem Dafoe. I can't even explain.

There was one about two magicians...and they were in competition with eachother.  One invented some machine that would make a clone of himself so he could pull off a trick.  After the trick was over, the clone would fall through a hole in the stage and be immediately drowned in a tank of water.  Under the stage/backstage was a whole sh!tton of tanks with dead clones in them.

That one left me thinking for a looooong time.

Ooh, The Prestige.  That's one of my and DH's favourite movies.  Definitely thought-provoking.

Precious and The Ring both disturbed me.
