mini pill?

Anyone taking the mini-pill?

I didn't want to get back on any hormone BC, but after a little scare (or at least I am still hoping it is a scare!), I am thinking maybe I need a little more to ensure DD doesn't have a sibling too soon.

My OB wrote me an Rx for the mini pill, but I haven't filled it yet just b/c I was on the fence about whether to start it.  Did you have any side effects from taking it?  I have heard the hormones can change the taste of your milk & baby won't like it (that could be completely false/myth)...just curious what you have heard.

Re: mini pill?

  • Hi there!  Like you, I was on the fence about going back on artificial hormones.  I was SO thankful that being on the BCP for so long didn't seem to affect my fertility when we were TTC that I told myself I'd never go back on it.  Stick out tongue  After filling the prescription, but not taking it right away, I decided to go back on it because my OB told me it was important not to get PG again for at least 1 year due to the healing process of my c/s.

I'm on Camila and didn't notice any side effects.  I've actually put on a little bit of weight, but I attribute that to the holidays and eating on the run rather than to the MP.  Starting the MP didn't seem to affect LO at all.

I haven't had a PP period yet, but my OB warned me that it could happen at anytime, without warning.  Just depends if you happen to ovulate (the MP isn't as effective at preventing ovulation).

  • Thanks for the info, Nicole!

and can I just say your siggy pic is ridiculously cute!!

Thanks!  Smile  That photo was taken on Christmas morning.  H was resting up for the big day ahead!

  • I'm on Camilla too and have been for about 6 months. No side effects for me, and A nursed just fine through the transition. I am not a fan of taking the chemicals again, but it's a lot less stressful than worrying about getting pg before we're ready. :-)

  • I was on it too without any problems
  • no experience w/the mini pill but just wanted to say that your "scare" is most likely just a scare... with BFing your cycles will take a bit to get back to normal so i am pretty sure you're not PG :) my cycles are still >40 days right now...
