Bleeding after internal exam

I am almost 39 weeks pregnant. I had my first internal exam on Tuesday and I have been bleeding ever since. The blood is brownish in color so the doctor told me not to worry. Has anybody else ever had this occur and for how long should I be bleeding? Not sure if I lost my mucous plug. I am having some contractions now about 30 - 45 minutes apart. Just curious.

i've heard of spotting after an internal, but i would just relax and try to keep a close eye on contractions....once they get to about 5 minutes apart then go to the hospital....good luck!! hope the time comes soon for your family
